Fight for my rights

Bruno believes he owns my desk chair. I was looking for something last night and he took it over. Luckily for me I have a second, less comfortable desk chair I could use. The vet says he only weighs 18 pounds, but he feels like a ton of bricks. Bruno can spread himself out and take over any position he desires.

You should give Bruno the less comfortable chair. Let him know you have the right to the desk chair.

Why would Bruno not want to take over your comfortable chair? Seems like he's a pretty smart kitty to pick the more comfortable place to stretch out.

He is telling me how much he loves being with me. I have tried to just sit on the front of the chair but together he and I are much too big.

@GardenGerty I know the feeling when my dog who is only 12 pounds jumps on my lap and wants to share the same space. Funny how she only wants to sit with me when I have my crocheting or the laptop open.

@Marilynda1225 Of course, your full attention isn't on her!!! I have the same problem with Freya. She does really well on the computer and hasn't quite gotten the hang of hand sewing the miniature teddy bears. I will admit she also sits in a way that I can't do much of anything otherwise too.

He really enjoys being close to me. So he will almost always be on the desk, my blanket or my chair.

This is what happens when they are pampered. They feel, with the amount of love and attention that they get, that they are the owners of the house and everything belongs to them. He must be selfish about you too, I guess.

You are correct. He is not a lap cat but he does want to be able to see me, whatever I am doing and you can count on him to be nearby.

@GardenGerty You've got him pegged right!!! My pair are the same way! Freya (the Siamese) even gets up on her window perch and watches the elevator when I go out. She is there waiting for me to come back. Petey is constantly right near me and the only time he leaves the spot near me is to use the litter box. He knows I'm about to head for the bedroom, his head is up and his eyes are semi-open. Adam 12 is on the TV and he knows it's my time for crawling in bed. I'm usually up at 6 a.m. so I lay down at 8 p.m. and shut the kindle reader down about 10. If I don't, he crawls between my face and the reader, so I have no other choice!

My sister really spoiled him and I do too just in a different way. You would enjoy Bitty kitty too. She looks "adorable" especially when she rolls on her back all over the bed. She is a wild child, though and will also go out on adventures for the whole day.

Yes, he actually is not as heavy as I thought, according to the vet. He is only a little over 18 lbs. He has lost weight this year.

Gee, you're lucky! After all our "pets" select us as many articles and postings state. Once they have set up their residency with us, they take over our favorite places. That includes our favorite comfortable desk chair. Plus you have to recognize the fact that our scent is embedded in the chair which makes it even more attractive to our pets. If you have noticed, they don't take over the company chairs, they take over our favorite spots to sit. We always seem destined to give up and give our loved critters our favorite chairs or sitting spots. And, as with my pair, it is always "Whatever you want fuzzy butt". That includes the bed, the computer, the cable box, and so much more. After all they give me total and unconditional love, so what's giving them access to my favorite spots to sit. This morning Freya was curled up in my overstuffed rocking chair. I watched her for a few minutes and finally moved her. She waited until I was working on the computer and curled up on the keyboard...where ever they want to sleep Mom! Hug Bruno for me!!!

He has had a confusing year. He lived with and owned my sister, then she went to the hospital and never came back. He is pretty socialized to adults. Yeah, I know, the extra cushion in the chair smells like me, so it is a favorite place. Both he and Bitty like to look out the window from the computer desk. Bruno also likes my heated throw, whether it is on or off.

@GardenGerty It's always hard on a new family member after having had another person they owned. I was lucky with Freya, the people that had her were "dog" people and thought that having a cat was like having dogs. NOT SO! They gave her two meals a day for one thing, and they must have been small meals as she weighed maybe 3 pounds max. They had her stashed in a back room and brought her out when my friend and I arrived to see her. She knew she had us in her paw, and still does. Not only does your chair smell like you, but it also smells like you "emissions" too. I have passed some lusty ones so she has the benefit of the extra aroma. I'm about to head to bed, so she will curl up in the chair. She knows I'm not feeling tip top, so she might even come to bed with me tonight. (there's some miserable stomach virus going around, so of course I had to catch it too....darn it!!!! My gentleman friend had it last week and canceled our shopping excursion, but he still had enough of it that I caught it again.) Anyhow, it's one of those weeks that if things can go odd they do. The maintenance guy was supposed to come by Monday to replace my blinds, and he didn't. No telling when he'll get here. More than likely tomorrow when I usually do some shopping--I'm craving chocolate. And things will go on from there. Anyhow, give Bruno and Bitty extra hugs and loving from Petey, Freya, and the Sucker that spoils them who lives in California. And have a wonderful day and week!!!
