Deputies with the Vermillion County Sheriffs Office (VCSO) in Indiana were able to rescue a deer who had his head stick inside of a plastic container for a period of 12 days. The reason that the deer was able to survive despite the plastic container on his head for a long time was that a crack in the container large enough for the deer to eat and drink. Deputies with the VCSO were able to get the plastic container out of the head of the deer last Thursday. The deer is able to breathe again and be free in his home in Indiana thanks to the efforts of the deputies of the VCSO to rescue the deer who had a hard time having to have a plastic container on his head. Most likely scenario is that the deer wanted to eat food from a plastic container that was in an open area in the county. Link is upi.com/5151708637269 via @upi

It would have been a bit difficult eating with a plastic container on its head.

Poor deer. We had a black Lab pup that got one of those plastic kiddo pumpkin buckets stuck on her head. We had a heck of a time catching her to get it off. Looked hilarious but sure wasn't for the pup.

@Deepizzaguy We rescued Leah pup from a lady who had little money but took in a Mom dog. Mom dog delivered 11 good sized pups. When we adopted Leah, she mostly had raw pumpkin for food. So the first days with her were hard. She wanted to eat anything she could get her paws on. The pumpkin bucket must have smelled tasty inside so she poked her head in and became trapped.

@sallypup I understand why Leah would get her head stuck inside of a pumpkin bucket.

Most likely the deer saw an empty container on the streets and he decided to eat or drink what was inside.

Poor deer. People are so stupid leaving trash around, I am glad the deer will be all right,

You are right that some people are stupid leaving trash on the streets so animals get in trouble messing with the containers.

It's a pity. On one hand, is responsible for the pain we cause to beasts then on the other hand, we rush to save them. Are we normal, as a race? I sometimes wonder.

I know what you mean about one moment we cause pain to animals and the next minute mankind want to save them.

@Deepizzaguy come to think of it, why atrocity over sensibility?

It's a good reason to get rid of your empty containers properly so our wildlife won't get hurt by them. I'm glad the sheriff's office got the container off its head.

That is very true that empty containers are necessary to avoid animals getting their heads trapped inside of them.

That is a long time to be confined like that. I bet that the deer was glad to have that contraption removed from its head.
