Spontaneous Dinner Together

Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. I am. Yesterday, I was craving for spring rolls and so I made them. First I made the fillings for the spring rolls like washing the mungo bean sprouts, grating carrots, chopping onions, Chinese cabbage and garlic. I didn’t have mincemeat and so I used bacon which I sliced in cubes. It took me an hour to prepare the ingredients but it was okay as I was craving for spring rolls. I have made a lot and so I texted my son if he wanted some. He said yes and so he came with his girlfriend after work. We ate dinner together. That was spontaneous. That was great and we talked a lot before they went home. I still have spring rolls wrapper left and I am thinking what to do with them. Maybe I will wrap ripe bananas and fried them for dessert. Do you have any idea what to make for my leftover spring rolls wrapper? Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful day to all.

Your spring rolls look delicious and it was nice your son and girlfriend joined you for dinner. I can't offer any advice for our leftover wrappers but your idea of using them for a banana dessert sounds perfect.

I liked to add shrimps or beef to my spring rolls, I never tried to make them using other ingredients.

@thelme55 When I have ground beef, I add cooked beef sometimes, but I prefer shrimps.

Shrimps in the spring rolls are also delicious. If I have them, I use them in my spring rolls. I don’t like beef much and so I have not used it before in this recipe. Thank you @LadyDuck.

@LadyDuck I prefer bacon slices and shrimps rather than ground beef or pork.

Are spring rolls the same as lumpia? I have not deep fried anything in a long time . . . but cheated and got them from restaurants

. I would do the same ingredients as you - maybe ground pork or shrimp.

Yes, they are the same @much2say. Lumpia is a Filipino word of spring rolls. I don’t buy them in the restaurants because I don’t like the thick wrapper that they are using. Yes, I use ground pork or shrimps sometimes. Thank you.

Yummy! You are making me crave it now. I love spring rolls but they are quite tedious to make. I think the banana "toron" sounds like a brilliant idea. You can also make peanut one if you fancy a none fruity dessert.

They look delicious. I hope that these were enjoyable! May be you can try some different stuffing with those leftover Spring Rolls wrapper but well any expert advice is highly unlikely from my side !

I absolutely love spring rolls but when I get them I get frozen, Just cannot take the time to make them myself, I have had some good shrimp spring rolls even though they were frozen,
