Don't Worry About Me

I will likely not be on here for the next two days or so. You may or may not remember that I have been working my way around getting a weatherization grant and a new furnace in my home. First some plumbing needed to be done. The agency doing this set up a visit from a plumber two or three months ago. He called me today, said that the agency wanted to know if he had finished this initial job. He said he did not ever get a message that he was approved. I told him "Welcome to our world". He will be buy Friday morning, meanwhile I need to do some things to help this be an accessible location for his jobs. So, my most productive time is first thing in the morning. I am not going to Be here, except maybe a tiny bit, but it is for a good reason. This has been about three years of filing paperwork, then doing it all over again as well.

Sounds like you've got a busy few days ahead with the weatherization grant and furnace installation! Don't worry about being here for the next couple of days, focus on getting everything sorted. It's great that you're being proactive with the plumber visit, hopefully things go smoothly on Friday. Enjoy the process and good luck with the project! We'll see you back when you can.

This plumbing project is different from the work I was having the other guy do all last fall into winter. My house was a duplex, with two hot water heaters, one installed in a rather funky way. Funky water heater is now out and all water comes in to the entire house through one tank. I still need to have some personal plumbing finished totally separate.

The delay here is that it is a state run government program. They have never approved a situation quite like mine so they had to get lots of inspectors involved. I will go from having four wall heaters and four window air conditioners to one central heat and cooling unit.

@GardenGerty - For no matter what we do here we have to ask for approval, it takes 3 weeks, because the authorities send the project to the neighbors and ask if someone is opposed.

Bureaucracy! (And what an odd looking word.)

Yes, it is a funny word. I am grateful the inspectors have persisted. I am basically going to be the trial run for getting more done. The "old rules" allowed for them to remove one heater and replace it with the most similar modern one. I have four wall furnaces, which will be removed and replaced by one central unit with duct work. Totally against the rules. My home is a pilot program.

It is only beginning. There will likely be a month's worth of work.

I had some plumbing done too. I had to get a new well pump and then the guest bathroom toilet needed a new part.

I am going from four wall furnaces to one central unit. I am doing my best to clear the way to make the installation easier.

The removal of one water heater and the tying in of the lines to the other went pretty well. I was not home, but I believe it took less than three hours.

I think by Easter or the week after it will be finished, and all air leaks sealed, etc.

I hope it all goes right for you & you get it done right cause sometimes people like that just don't do what needs to be done & make it worse than it was B-4. That's why I haven't hired a contractor to get my cabin done & trying to get it done ourselves, but that's like pulling teeth.

There are several inspection steps involved in this program. I am confident that what gets done will be done correctly. Much better than if I were to try to do it myself.
