Did you ever get to play in the rain when you were little?

A few times when we were little kids, and it was a warm rain my mother let us put on old clothes and play in it. She also said we could make pies with the mud. It was a lot of fun. She would rinse us off before we came back inside. Ahhh, the good old days. I bet alot of kids weren't allowed to do it, and might not even want to, but we loved it. I never had that discussion with my son though..somebody would have probably turned me in for child neglect or some such thing..besides in Virginia, when the weather is warm, there isn't too much rain not accompanied by thunder and lightning. Plus, most of the time we were living in apartments.

I do not remember being allowed to play out in the rain, but shortly after I could. I remember making mud pies, even on days when it rained hours before if I could find a low spot somewhere near the barn or the bins that still had mud. It was always fun making those, better than the play doe that today's kids play with.

Yeah, but you can use play doh in the house..

Didn't you have that when you were a kid? We had it every color and a little machine that you could make it into shapes too.

@Juliaacv it's strange the things kids think are fun. Playing in the mud...is about the last thing I would think was fun today..Yikes, getting it under your fingernails an in the crevices of your fingers...

@snowy22315 No, I did not get any play doe, but I had real mud to make pies from, and I was good with that.

I remember walking in the rain, but l don't recall playing in it. Maybe l did a few times.

The best was playing in a mud puddle..and making mud pies. We got a good bath that night.

@snowy22315 my daughter loved making mudpies. She played with a girl from around the corner and they had fun making them. Once, we were on a trip. All my kids kept sliding down in a mud puddle in the playground. When they were tired, I hosed the mud off and they hit the showers. They had fun.

I still remember playing in the rain when I was a kid. My mom used to be against me doing it. As I grew bigger, she sort of allowed me to play in the rain.

NO, we were living in an apartment, I never played in the rain when I was little. We had fund going out in the rain with my cousins when we were teenagers, who cared about the rain!

We went for walks in the spring rain, when the rain was gentle and it was warm. We saw mushrooms popping up from the ground. They grew that quickly.

We had more rain here in my childhood - oh yes, I loved being out with my umbrella and rainboots! I don't think I made mudpies in the rain . . . that was what I did on dry, warm days. We lived in the apartments when my kids were little - didn't have access to mud that way, but we sure did go out in the rain!

Yes, I did and I was always scolded because my parents were scared that I got sick again. I still like taking a rain shower as an adult but only when I am in the Philippines. The rain shower is warm there.

I used to play in the rain too. I would also play and slide in the mud. But my parents were strict so I had play in the rain when I was out few times.
