5 March - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good evening from a cool Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. The current temperature is 38 F on my phone. If you read my plans for the day, you know I wasn't here. It was a busy day. I'm thankful for my son. I called to remind him he needed to pick me up at 7 this morning. He was here at 7 sharp. He's a good kid who does driving for a living, so I really don't need to give him directions on where to go. He keeps calling me a side seat driver. I need to learn to trust the person I'm riding with. My son is a very good driver. He's an Uber driver. He picks people up and takes them wherever. He's taken passengers to surrounding states. So, when he tells me he knows what he's doing. He does. So, I kept quiet after the third time. Then he turned into the hospital and looked at me and said, "This is the wrong entrance, isn't it?" I said yes. The entrance is on the other side of the hospital. When he picked me up an hour later it was from the correct entrance. He didn't take me home. I had asked him to take me to the church for Bible study. He was surprised by it's location. He knew it used to be a roller skating rink at one time. I'm thankful for Bible study. First because I didn't feel like I was going to fall asleep during the study. Not that it's boring, it's not. It's very interesting. It's that when I take a nap, it's always around that time of the morning. This morning, I wasn't tired and was alert through the whole study and corrected her a couple of times and put my two cents worth in. She loves that about me. The pastor is usually there before we begin. I've gotten to know him. No, it's not my home church. He knows my pastor quite well and we were talking about the fact we're about to break ground for my church. He learned a couple of interesting things about me today. I have my Associate Degree in Architecture, so when I told him I had studied the plans for the church, I knew what I was looking at. He asked what else there was about me to know. I told him I am a certified nurse's aid, I have my diploma as an offset press operator, and I have my diploma as an author. I wonder what he would have said if I told him I have Bible college behind me also. Not a degree. But I've been to Bible college. I didn't graduate for various reasons. I'm thankful for a friend who gives me a ride home after Bible study. She's wonderful. She took me to get my watch battery and then over to Hy-Vee for groceries. Both places are in the same mall. I'm thankful for the short amount of time I could be here today. I knew it wouldn't be much, but you mean a lot to me, so I made it a point to be here and see what you were doing today. For obvious reasons, I didn't get the notifications done today. I'm thankful for Writer's Guild tonight. We had a Zoom meeting with an editor from Louisiana. She was wonderful. She talked about all the aspects of editing and what an editor looks for in a manuscript. I won't even begin to say I am a qualified editor. I'm always learning. Though I do my own editing. What I will say is I'm on the right track. After we concluded with her, we read. There were three readers tonight. I was one of them. I'm always looking for feedback on my work. The suggestions are invaluable. My work is always a work in progress. I'm sure I could go back and edit and revise each of the books I've published, but as she said, there comes a time when you need to stop editing and publish. The other gentleman who read, also has a very good story. I don't know if his is finished. The third person read a poem she wrote. Very good! I'm thankful for food. I didn't eat anything until the restaurant tonight. We meet at a restaurant for Writer's Guild. With no time to eat today, it felt good to eat a decent meal. I had liver with bacon and sauteed onions, broccoli, and a baked potato with sour cream. Right now, I'm finishing the apple crisp I made for the dinner I had with my neighbors on Sunday. My stomach didn't even object to waiting so long before I ate, but was very happy to finally get some food. It was easy to calculate the calories for what I ate today. I'm thankful for getting my steps. I thought about working the foot cycle, but I'm going to leave it and just go to bed when I post this. Tomorrow is another day. Okay, that's my day. It was a good day, and a busy day. What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. Image courtesy of Pixabay. My favorite so far of the possible book covers for Faith to Believe.

Sounds very busy, for sure. Glad it was a good day though. Liver sounds good, just not the onions and broccoli. I need to add that to my shopping list.

@just4him My mum used to like liver and bacon too. It's something I haven't had for years now.

Thank you. Me too. Though my stomach wasn't demanding at all during the day. I was hungry, but not overly so.

I am glad your son was there at 7 to bring you to the hospital. He surely knows the places as he is a Uber driver. You had a very busy day but also an interesting day.

@just4him - I usually did not give directions to my husband, but now he asks me to tell him where he has to turn, he is all the time very confused.

That certainly was a busy day! And yes you do have a wide-ranging education. I have wondered what you did in life before becoming a writer; now I know a bit more!

I started my life writing. I wonder if I had a pencil in my hand when I was born. I started writing when I was eight. It's always good to learn about people.

The pastor certainly learnt a bit about you today. Another lesson in not judging a book by its cover.

Yes, he did. Yes, it is, though since I've known him, he doesn't judge anyone.

Thank you for the newsy update. I am thankful that my husband has started with physical therapy. I am hoping that within a month he will be able to stand and walk on his own. Have a good day.
