When love is so powerful between couples it's only natural that marriage becomes the next step on the road of romance. Whether it's high school sweethearts whose love grows over time, or a dating couple who eventually falls head over heels for each other, matrimony will become a subject of conversation. Today's "love-titled" songs reflect those powerful feelings...
Comments, musings about the songs, and your own favorite "love titled" tunes and trivia always welcome...
POWER OF LOVE- HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS (1985)
-This song was featured in the movie "Back to the Future" and I'm sure that extra exposure was a big assist in that tune becoming a #1 hit for this San Francisco based band. The group was wildly popular in the 80's which led to Huey Lewis being one of the singers on the fund-raising tune, "We Are the World," for the victims of famine in Africa.
-Do you like any of Huey Lewis and the News songs? One of my favorites is "Workin' for a Livin'." Enjoy the video of Huey's live performance.
TRIVIA CHALLENGE
***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! See if you can guess the song, artist or facts below...
1. This "blissful song" about the "day of the wedding" was recorded in 1964 and reached the #1 spot on the charts. When you're getting hitched the "ceremony" is usually done at a church or "private place of worship" called a "______________." With the lyrics, Goin' to the "________" and "we're gonna get married" it was not just a love song but a tune about serious commitment. The "female trio" who recorded the song was from the "south" which some call the land of "__________." The "group's name" is also the same as a popular ice cream called The "________" cup(s)
-Can you figure out the name of this group and their love-titled song?
2. Paul Anka recorded this #2 song in 1960 about "young love." Anka and the girl he was having an affair with were both 17 at the time so their parents dismissed the romance as just "____________ love." It's seems funny to use a "baby dog's name" to describe adolescents who feel so passionate about each other.
-Can you name this dog I mean love titled tune?
3. "I Honestly Love You" was recorded by this "Aussie singer/actress" in 1974 and it hit the top spot on the charts. This lovely singer would go on to success as an actress playing the part of "Sandy" in the 1978 film "Grease." "You're the One That I Want" with John Travolta, and "Hopelessly Devoted to You" were songs this singer had hits with from that movie.
-Can you name this Australian born Country-Pop singer?
Ok, hope you feel "the power of love" when solving these trivia songs. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as the vocal group The Four Tops would say, "Reach Out and I'll Be There."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned...

@rebelann I actually did not even know Anka and Annette were that close in age.
I guess many are victim to hearing loss as we age. But it's worse for musicians whose enjoyment comes from performing...

That was sad to hear. Not the first musician who lost his hearing. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry from The Who, now there's a hard rock group you might like, had hearing loss too. Some others are Sting, Alice Cooper and Mick Fleetwood. Many years of loud music definitely take their toll.
Hey, you weren't "blind to love" on this quiz, you got Olivia...
Complete Trivia Answers:

For the "love of Mike!"
Yes, I believe the Osmond's did do that one. He was 14 at the time and the tune made him a global phenomenon.

Never turned off Huey Lewis when he came on the radio, but never bought an album, either.
1. As the Statler Brothers sang, “Movie stars on Dixie Cup tops and goin to the Chapel of Love.” Oh, wait, it was “knickers to your knees.” Ah, do you remember these? I love “Chapel of Love.”
2. And they call it little French poodle love……
I’m such a bad Puppy!
3. Gotta be honest, I didn’t honestly love that song, nor “Please Mister Please. But she sure got back on my good side with “You’re the One That I Want”!! Let’s see, that would be Olivia deHavilland Newton-Elton John, right?
Let me be there in your trivia discussions, let me give you a laugh or two!

Your responses are filled with LOL.

"I love it!"

The 80's were filled with electronic music, New Wave and Punk, so it was nice to find a rocker like Huey to listen to.
Although I never bought an album of Olivia's she did achieve a record of a woman whose music I did buy.
-Newton-John was only the second woman to have 2 songs on the charts simultaneously. Linda Ronstadt was the first.
