Monday, 11 March 2024 - Tried something new

Good Monday to you all,
I tried something a few friends had been telling me about for a while that I just kept putting off and well it worked out alright. I have about 45-minute drive home from work, and they kept telling me to turn on Uber Eats on the way home and see if I can pick up and order or two on the way home.
I tried it today just to see what happened. I picked up two orders. The first was a short ride and took me in the direction of home and I got a whole $4.27, and the second one took me just a little bit out of the way and got me $7.33. In total made $11.60 took me about 40 minutes and added about 11 miles to my drive.
Certainly, is not going to make me rich but since I didn’t have plans and I was on the road anyway why not pick up a few dollars. I don’t know if that is typical, or if I just got lucky or not, but I will try it again when I don’t have plans and see how it goes.
My fear is that it will take me off in the wrong direction and not be worth my time. I figure if the miles are low, and I can make a few bucks it might be worth it.

Any extra cash is good cash. So long as it's worth it. But, then you can control your milage, to an extent, by only accepting orders that are within a milage limit you set for yourself. If it's a side business for a little extra cash that could work.

@Bensen32 I think that's a good thing. Uber has been getting a lot of my money as of late. Although things are starting to quiet down a bit.

@thislittlepennyearns I think for the little time and distance I went for the little money it wasn't bad but not sure if I just got lucky or not. I didn't do it today so we will see when I try it again.

That is a good way to make some extra money especially if you are going in those directions anyway.

If it works out that it is going in my direction, will not be so good if it makes me back track in the wrong direction. Although you can see how much you will make and how far it is and you can refuse to accept it, so that is a good thing.
