It's a place I recall with fond memories of collecting beautiful sea glass along the wild and windy shore. But nature will have her way you know. The sea will have what the sea must have. Man cannot stop it. Pity the beautiful beaches are washing away. I recall the massive storms there, as I was living only a mere 50 steps from the shore. Had you ever lived along the sea side?

Yes, it's very sad. Those poor people who live in those houses! No, I've never lived along the sea side. And I wouldn't want to for exactly this reason. It would be horrible to have your house wash away.

It would. But they can afford it to be blunt. Those houses are worth millions.

@RebeccasFarm But what if all their money is tied up in their house, and then their house washes away?

@sharonelton Ah well, you can have tons of money and no common sense I guess..don't build your house on sand is what I say.

Sorry to hear that, hard to see bad things happen to places you loved to go, and that had good memories for you. Never lived along any, never even been to a beach or anything!

No, I have never lived along the sea side. Just close to the riverside in Riga, Latvia.

I've always wanted to live by the sea but it just hasn't been in the cards. That's so sad to see that those beautiful houses are at risk with all the erosion.

With the dodgy weather we've been having, erosion is becoming quite the problem

Those homes are VERY close to water . . . there was no way they could beat out the sea. It'd be lovely to have a beach house, but with sea levels rising and nature being so unpredictable, I think I'll just continue to live away from the beach but be able to visit it.

Fairly close, just a few blocks. Apart from Sandy, which destroyed our boardwalk and damaged many homes (we were spared) stormy conditions like Nor'easters can wreak havoc for sure. It is a joy to live so close and be able to walk to the ocean, but when mother nature rears its ugly head, it can be a worrisome to say the least. I live more inland now, but still just a 10-minute ride by car away. When summer arrives, I'm so blessed to be so close.
