Another Orange Chicken

We tried a different brand since we liked the packaged orange chicken we recently bought from Trader Joe's, and it just so happened our local Schnuck's grocery store had the Innovasian brand on sale buy one get one free. So, they came to around $3.85 a box. I would say it passes, but the two are very different. The Innovasian brand is more saucy and the package is 4 ounces smaller at 18 ounces. I'd do it again. Just for an added touch I cooked up some onion, red pepper and celery with the chicken before I added the sauce packet and then served the mixture over a hot bed of white rice. What went on your dinner table last night?

We both like a lot orange chicken, this is something that I make often at home (from scratch).

@porwest - You are right, it is quite messy, but the taste is definitely better.

@LadyDuck I cannot argue with that one bit. Sometimes easy it just what the doctor ordered, though. Even I need a break from traditional cooking sometimes.

I make it from scratch too. Granted, it's quite messy with battering and frying the chicken and making the sauce and all that. But my homemade version is definitely hands down better.

I don't think I would like to try chocolate chicken. Sometimes Lorraine makes interesting stuff, but this sounds weird to put together: chocolate and chicken. Chocolate is a dessert, chicken is not!

@andreea_v Yes, I know what you mean. I'm not sure I'd want to try chocolate chicken. I'm not really supposed to eat chocolate or chicken on my diet anyway!

Chocolate chicken doesn't sound appealing to me at all. I guess I would have to try it to know for sure. Hmm.

That orange chicken sounds good and the price is really decent. Last night we had ground beef with white rice, peas and corn. A meal that has been a favorite since my kids were young.

Mmm. That sounds good. Yeah, I thought the price was good and it didn't fail. The only caveat is we ate all of it, so no leftovers. But for a quick meal, it fit the bill.

Was it really spicy? I had a frozen Meals on Wheels dinner. Vegetable lasagna, succotash and carrots. It wasn't bad. Have a good day.

Not spicy at all, which was good, since neither of us like spicy.

Orange chicken is yummy. But I usually make lemon chicken which I like even more. Had steamed pork patty with dried squid and Shiitake mushroom for dinner.

I think I have lemon chicken before. Maybe one of these days I will try it again. Has to be more tart I would think.
