Love can be a complicated thing, so much so that at times one wonders if it's worth all the trouble. My "love selections" today deals with those feelings. Or as Frankie Lyman & the Teenagers so aptly put in song, "Why do Fools Fall in Love." Comments, musings about the songs, and your own favorite "love titled" tunes and trivia always welcome... LOVE STINKS- J GEILS BAND (1980) -This tune was written by J Geils Band lead singer and frontman Peter Wolf. From his perspective, after going through the different colors of love... blues, red and pink, his conclusion is reflected in this song title. You might also remember a couple other tunes from this band "Centerfold," and "Freeze Frame," as the group branched out into a more pop oriented sound. ***Are you familiar with the J Geils Band? I saw them in concert, and although not a big fan, as a "live" act, they had me standing on my seat throughout their performance! Enjoy their song... TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! See if you can guess the song, artist or facts below... 1. The Beatles Paul McCartney wrote this tune about love and relationships. In the lyrics he is hoping the girl is not looking for someone with a lot of "money" because its love that matters most in life. As Paul says in the lyrics "I may not have a lot to give, but what I got I'll give to you. Afterall, you "can't purchase" someone's love. Or as the title goes, "Can't __________ love." -Do you know the title of this #1 Beatles classic? 2. This "Motown girl group" hit it big with "Stop- In the Name of Love" in 1965. They continued that success with two more #1 songs, "Where Did Our Love Go, and "Come See About Me." One of this song's co-writers Lamont Dozier got the idea for the title after an argument with his girlfriend (she caught him cheating). In the heat of battle, he said, "Baby, please stop. In the name of love - before you break my heart." The plea didn't work. The group's name is similar to words like "greatest, highest and most powerful." -Do you know the name of this highly successful Motown girl trio? 3. This song was the first of many hits written by the songwriting team of Goffin & King. This love titled tune asks the question, "I know you love me today, but will you _____________." This was the first ever #1 song recorded by "this black female group." Part of the artists name, Shirl...., came from an extension of lead singer "Shirley" Alston's first name. She sang lead on many of the group's songs. -Do you know the girl group from 1960 who recorded this hit and the name of their love-titled song? -Bonus points: This was also recorded by this piano playing female singer for her 1971 Tapestry album. Can you name this artist? Ok, hope you don't "get sick of love" when solving these trivia songs. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as the vocal group The Four Tops would say, "Reach Out and I'll Be There." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

Unfortunately, you covered time periods I am not musically familiar with. I am seeing a Motown show while I’m in Branson, Missouri this week, so maybe I’ll be somewhat enlightened by that genre.
