Do you always hold unto the way things were?

March 20, 2024 6:09am CST
We do some things that steal our happiness and one of such is holding unto the way things are done in the past. Since live is always evolving, it is impossible to control how things used to work. It is therefore more important to gradually master change instead of letting change master you. Holding unto the way things are done will always steal your happiness.

I can be guilty of holding on to the past. While I find it daunting to adapt to change, I will try to embrace positive changes. Sometimes it's more about a fear of the unknown - will a change be better? Can you go back to how things were if it doesn't work out? On the other hand, some things are best left as they are. There have been changes I was reluctant to embrace because I didn't predict a positive outcome.

Maybe you should be more positive if there is a chance for positive outcomes. Thanks for the contribution.

@ogbenishyna I always try to be positive as much as possible. There was only really one time that there was no chance of a positive outcome. It was in a previous job. My colleagues and I had genuine concerns about the negative impact of that particular change. Turns out we were right about that one!

We must evolve, but it is impossible not to regret the past, because it was so much better.

Letting go of the past is something that might take awhile but it's something that is necessary. Dwelling in the past brings up old pains, which is of no benefit. Live in the present and do what's right right now so that you avoid the issues from the past.

Rightly said. I'm swimming upstream. It has become apparent to me that my well being is of primary importance. Sounds selfish, but it does include doing things that take into consideration, others' well being and needs as well.
