Families are a bit crazy sometimes.

At least, mine is. The only member in my nearest family that had common sense was my husband. The only "dumb" thing he di in all his life was to die too young. Shame on him! He had promised to die after I did. As I have told you, my youngest daughter is not speaking to me. Worse still, she blocked me even in her cellphone. So that if I have a medical problem in a hurry, she won´t know even if she lives a few blocks from me. I have mended things with my eldest daughter. Not completly but some. We have the sort of relation that is usual between mothers and daughters. She remembers me when she needs me. She calls me for 2 minutes once in a great while to ask me how I am. I answer fine. You know more than her about my leg aches. But lately she found a BF from Argentina. And she called me for over an hour to tell me all about it. She is now in Buenos Aires to see him. That would be normal. But a month ago, after an abusive relation with another man from Argentina, she decided that EVERYONE from Argentina were devils, including, I suppose , even the actual Pope. As soon as she is back from this long Easter vacation, she will call me telling me everything. Meanwhile, she sent me a picture with a mate at her side. And I have just told you about my brother. I will have a nice dinner on Thursday, I know. But I will follow the lead on what to talk about. Weird people. How is your family? Do you have such problems?

I had no problems with my parents, but I do have problems with my brother. He has been a real jerk and we do not speak to each other anymore.

@marguicha - Should my brother call me, I would have no problems inviting him, but for sure I am not going to do the first step, he has been the one who offended me. I am sorry about your younger daughter, I really cannot understand her.

@LadyDuck I am sorry for her more than for myself. I have come to realize that it is her loss.

@marguicha - It is her loss Marga and one day she will realize that she did something very wrong and will regret forever.

My family was the picture of toxic. It got so bad that I fled when I was 19. While I'm not happy about it (I did try to go back and mend fences), I just couldn't do it. Several of my more toxic family members have since passed on.

I wonder many times what makes people so toxic when it would be so much better to live in peace.

I had a problem with my mom. She wanted to rule my life. I had to get rather nasty with her to let her know I was of age and independent now. She and I became great pals. We used to laugh and have such fun together. I'm so glad we came to this understanding. I bet you feel this way about your older daughter.

@marguicha .......Do they have kids? Give it time. When daughters become moms their way of thinking sometimes changes. My daughter and I had our bad period but we are close now like best freinds.

I am willing to open my arms to my 2 daughters if they just let me. Tania has overcome the problem up to a certain extent but Claudia seems to have forgotten all the good parts of our relation.

I can give you many stories of how my family is a train wreck . But the biggest pill of all is my younger sister. She has always been the way she was, but ever since my father passed away a year and half ago, she's gotten worse. Right now she is mad and hasn't visited or called my mom since mid January . . . she is being spiteful by no longer helping my mother, which is wrong. Family problems make me ill - oh I could go on and on about it!!

@marguicha Wow, only 2 houses away?? But at the same time, I believe it. Growing up, my father's brother lived just a few miles away from us, but our families were never close - we barely ever visited each other.

I don't talk to my siblings much anymore. Talk to the kids when they are not busy

@marguicha We fell apart when our parents passed. If I see them we talk but we don't try to contact each other

We have a few in our families that need to be handled with kid gloves but mostly they are pretty good.

Most families have issues I guess. There is a greek quote saying from far away we love each other. I can't find the exact english translation, but it means that we love each other more when we are not together. That's my family, we always talk on the phone and everything is great. But when we meet, if we stay together for more than a couple of days we will start fighting! So I learnt my lesson, short frequent visits work best for us.

Except for some relatives in Latvia who are involved with their own lives I no longer have any family, I might consider my two stepchildren and their families as mine but I only keep in touch with my stepdaughter,

Sometimes blood does not mean as much as real caring.

I haven't had any connection with my family for over 50 years. I'm glad at least one of your daughters is speaking to you. Have a good day.
