I got to play bass yesterday!

OK, so the index and middle fingers on my right hand have blisters on the right now. But they're not that bad. Why the blisters? Because our bass player was out of town yesterday. So I got to play bass on many of the songs Burl Jam practiced. I actually really like playing bass, and am quite good at it. But I play mostly guitar and piano in this band. The bass I played yesterday was an upright, sometimes referred to as a "dog house." I love the sound of an upright. Today, I'll be back playing guitar and piano at Guitar Center. Cha-ching! Right now, I'm drinking my first cup of coffee and going down various wormholes. I gather Trump's stock was struggling a bit, at least as of yesterday. I'll have to check to see if it's up today. I am investing my money conservatively right now. Smash and grab crime is still a problem in the US. So are shootings. One happened in a Safeway gas station. Fortunately I was not there at the time. I am having leftover pollo burrito for breakfast. How is your day shaping up?

I never got my hands on a bass guitar . . . but I liked trying to figure out and play bass on the piano or synth to my favorite songs. Everyone is out of the house today - so I'm getting errands and house stuff done !

@TheHorse That is true! I have to think hard about the notes on a guitar though . . . piano is so linear.

@TheHorse Hold on, would you say bass is easier to play than guitar because it has fewer strings? You can tell the truth, I'm no bass player.

The strings of the bass guitar are E-A-D-G, the same as the bottom (musically) strings of a regular six-string guitar. So if a fella can play guitar, they can play bass!

Sorry about the blisters. Be careful when you're out and about! My day is shaping up as lonely and boring. Have a good one.

Teaching guitar went fine yesterday. I hope your day picks up. Will you be able to talk to your hubby?

@LindaOHio I hope he calls this evening. If I were him I'd be napping. But I am an insensitive beast.

@TheHorse He never leaves his phone on; so I have to wait until he calls in the evening.

We had a round of severe weather this morning, and we’re forecast to have more this afternoon. So I’ll be watching the weather all afternoon. But fear not, I did go get my chicken taco salad. Wasn’t that a Johnny Cash song….”daddy played bass….”

@TheHorse — probably Mariachi, where you can hear their static on the radio and the tubes, they glow in the dark. (Just as long as the fajitas don’t glow in the dark.)

@FourWalls The burrito was good. I'm having a bit of leftover right now. But I'm "all strung out on...pain pills...on the outskirts of town."

Dang. It sound like something the Carter family would do. I'll have to check. I went for a burrito yesterday. At Tai Sam Yon. Or was it Mariachi? I forget which.

@LadyDuck Today it was cool and clear here. No rain. I think it was in the 60s F.

Maybe you get a bit hardened to it but I would be scared every time I went to a gas station if it were me.

I have gotten used to it. Funny story: One time I was almost run over in Oakland by a guy fleeing from a murder he had just committed. I jumped to safety, breathed a sigh of relief, and then was almost run over by the cop chasing him!

I have been to the doctor, pharmacy, and post office; a whole plethora of fun! Your discussion reminds me of that song with the lyrics “daddy sang bass, mama sang tenor”…an old country song. Not anything Burl Jam would do (thank goodness). Have a great day!

@celticeagle He is incredible. But so are the thugs who would mug a gardener. I posted about that one a couple of hours ago. I just ran a few errands without incident.

I saw some shooting and shoplifting articles this morning. Maybe I'll do a post about it. I started my "negative Nellie" posts for today with one about Trump allegedly suing the very people who helped him start Truth Social when he was booted from Twitter.

I spent all afternoon putting in my posts to my blog, I had some oatmeal for breakfast and later a pork sausage patty and some tater tots.

@TheHorse yep, just how i like them, I cook them at a high temp 375 on my toaster oven and that makes them crispier, Plus I have a grill that I put on top of the taters in the baking pan and then put on a pork sausage patty which drips some fat on them while baking and that helps a lot too

Can tater tots be crispy on the outside if you cook them right?
