I Would Love to Host

...foreign Exchange Students. I remember when I was living with my best friend in our twenties in a nice flat in England, we would host foreign exchange students from all over the world. Not only would it help them out greatly, but it was so much fun and interesting to get to know their culture without going anywhere. I wish I had the house to do this. I am partial to helping students of any kind, as in my teen years, I needed a lot of hosting for real. That is another story for another day. Have you ever been an exchange student or hosted one? We hosted students from France, Italy and Germany.

We were in couch-surfing so our guests weren't students but mostly young backpackers. We did enjoy meeting them and learning about their lives and cultures.

A friend of mine hosted a student from Finland and it was a bit of a nightmare. Don't think she'll be hosting again

@RebeccasFarm I am sorry you are unable to do it now but you have so much to deal with right now that takes your time away from things you would like to do. I was never a foreign exchange student or never hosted one.

No, I have never been an exchange student, nor hosted one. It should be a rewarding experience hosting foreign exchange students.

When my son was studying in Australia, he was hosted by a family as that was a requirement as he was below 18. We met a nice family. He later moved into the university campus.

That would be such a nice experience. I once hosted a French girl who came for a exchange program in my daughter's school. We hosted her for two weeks and it was a good experience. Being the same age as my daughters, they became good friends. She was a pleasant and very courteous teenager. I would host one of our British friend ( he is my father's age) whenever he comes to our city as a guest lecturer to Waldorf festivals and workshops. He has stayed with us on three of his visits.

it is great you could host them;i just hope you didn't have to feed themstudents can be put in dorms too. i know in my dorm i had in 2years one american girl and 2 indian boys. i had to share bathroom with them. since it was women's floor, didn't like having boys there and didn't get it why they were put there also, bathroom was the mess from their side

@RebeccasFarm it wasn't that messy but since i lived in a dorm all year long, not came there for a vacation or something, it would have been nicer if they shared my and my roommate's burden. bathroom wasn't that big.
