Enjoy this song, because today’s 70-year-old song is country. Can you believe this song is 40 years old now? Wow! Back to 1984 we go for today’s song that’s part of my birthday celebration this month. Smuggler’s Blues - Glenn Frey A song that’s so cinematic that they turned it into an episode of Miami Vice, which featured Glenn Frey in the show. And, for you females who spent the 80s ogling Don Johnson, the “Smuggler’s Blues” episode was the ONLY episode of Miami Vice I ever watched. Obviously my interest wasn’t Crockett and Tubbs. The sad thing about this great tune is that it’s still as fresh and topical today as it was 40 years ago. The only difference is the “heroin, cocaine, or hash” has been replaced with ecstasy, fentanyl, and meth. “A losing proposition,” indeed. Smuggler’s Blues Written by Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin Recorded by Glenn Frey From The Allnighter, 1984 It’s the ultimate enticement:

Frey was one really sexy man. That MV episode is on YouTube, I just wish they'd air the whole series on one of those streaming platforms, I liked that show.

We missed out on this one. Too far out bush when it came out I guess. Also didn't get to see Miami Vice.

The Eagles were all so talented. I heard just recently though that Jackson Browne wrote at least one of their songs.

He co-wrote “Take It Easy” with Glenn Frey, and he wrote “Nightingale,” which closed out side one of their first album (not that I ever had the album or anything ). He co-wrote some of the Desperado album and he’s one of the “bandits” on the back cover of the album (along with the band and J.D. Souther).
