I have a set of old Encylopedia Brittanica from the year 1975. I read them occasionally, but now I got a new bookcase and I don't have space to put them anymore. I don't really want to put them in the trash, as they were the Google of the 1975. . . They are in ok shape, the covers are still on and the paper is still in good condition too. What would you do ?

I ended up taking mine to the Op Shop/thrift store but I don't think anyone much wants them any more.

@lifecoachjerusalem I know what you're saying and I feel the same but apart from donating them, I don't know what else you can do with them.

So what to do with the heavy books? We got them a long time ago for free. I don't feel right just putting them in the trash. . .

We have small library installed in what in the past were phone booths. I would place them there for people who could want them.

We don't have phone booths in Israel. Sometimes people just put books out at bus stops, but many times the sanitation workers just throw them away.

@lifecoachjerusalem Instead of removing the phone booths they converted all of them in little "free" libraries.

They are elephants now, unfortunately. Most thrift stores like Goodwill, or Salvation Army, will not take them, as no one will buy them. I know I had a full set of lovely ones that I bought for my kids when they were young. I finally had to send them to the recycle plant. Sad, I know. I remember paying what was a small fortune for the set bought, back in the day.

I gave my set to a local community library.
