For the third year running the revived Flint Hills Bent Rims Motorcycle Grand Prix will be in town for Memorial Day weekend. The field across from my house is used as a campgrounds. I believe the spaces rent for $50 for three days camping. The city has installed a water spigot, and they bring in porta potties. It is early for people to get here, but last night around 5:30 p.m. the first campers arrived. The city had just barely finished mowing it. Our experience the first two years is that the campers are good neighbors. I hope it stays that way. It has always seemed family friendly. So that is what is happening in my neck of the woods. . . or the Plains.

It's awesome to know that a government actually promotes that kind of activity.

Our town needs to find ways to encourage visitors.

That says a lot about the quality of people that you don’t mind them coming.

I really dreaded it the first year, but it was really quite family friendly. So good to see people having outdoor fun together.

There is a race that is vintage, and there are some mud tracks also. They come back tot he campground and wash up their bikes.

And will there be food trucks wafting various aromas across to you? Or just the porta potties?

We have one or two that will likely come, but they will park "down town". There will be some other food vendors as well.I do appreciate the city providing the water, potties, and a big garbage dumpster or two. It lets people be neat.

I do too. It is good business for our tiny town and really for the whole county to have these outside guests come.

I hope the campers are responsible and again good neighbors. I'm sure we will have some motorcyclists around here too. Good Luck. Hope you have an uneventful and quiet weekend.

That is cheap camping. The people will enjoy their weekend I'm sure. I love your rabbit decoration. It's very cute. I'm presuming that's your front yard.

I hope the campers behave themselves. Have a good day and a better long weekend.
