Power was turned off

I was about to boil some water to make instant coffee this morning when I noticed that the time was not displaying on the stove or the microwave.
Went to check the thermostat and noticed it was off as well. Tried to turn on the lights but they wouldn’t turn on.
Went outside to check the meter and it was off. Neighbors’ meters were off too. Clearly the power was turned off and not just in my house. Going to our electric company’s website confirmed that.
They must have been doing some work in the area because my contractor and hubby told me they saw trucks from our electric company in our community.
So much for my morning coffee. I did have it finally after power was restored some hours later.
I had no idea they were even gonna turn the power off. Would have been great to get notified of this happening ahead of time.

@lovebuglena Exactly, it's a problem when you start laundry and power is turned off.

That would have been helpful. Good thing I hadn’t started doing laundry at the time.

That sounds frustrating! I'm glad the power came back on eventually. Maybe next time they'll give you a heads-up.

@lovebuglena That was lucky timing! Avoiding laundry during a power outage definitely helps dodge an extra headache. It's always a relief when the timing works out like that!

It would have been nice to know in advance.

I would've hated that too. We rely on AC, that would've just about killed us.

When in my former neighborhood the power would go out, it was due to either an auto accident knocking a transformer getting hit by an auto or a weather related incident since when the computer goes down, it is usually due to an update but the time to do the update would be overnight.

We never get notified when the power is going to be shut off.

Wow! They should, especially if they know ahead of time they will shut it off.
