Police officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) answered an emergency call from an animal lover who reported seeing a huge rabbit who is named Bugs after the cartoon character who was seen on California State Highway 17 near Santa Cruz on Sunday evening June 2.
The CHP officers were able to pick up a female Flemish rabbit who was seen by construction workers.
The female rabbit was taken by the police to the Santa Cruz Animal Shelter who gave the rabbit to a Mill Valley rescue group.
Due to the injuries the neck and back of Bugs were the result of someone kidnapping the rabbit from an outdoor enclosure.
Bugs managed to avoid being a meal by the kidnappers by getting away.
Bugs is being taken care at the animal shelter before she goes up for adoption.

I am so glad the rabbit was rescued, Some idiot probably wanted to make a meal out of the rabbit, I am glad it was smart enough to get away, Only wish before it ran away it had bitten that idiot,

I agree with you that someone who attempted to harm the rabbit is an evil person.

I am in agreement with you that the rabbit should be left alone and not being someone meal.

I remember my former next door neighbor used to win bunny rabbits as pets in his home.

I wonder if they also made a good effort to try and to locate the original owner here, before deciding to put it up for adoption. If the rabbit was kidnapped, perhaps the owners are missing their missing rabbit a lot.

I am sure that the authorities can find the owners of the rabbit as well.

I'm glad the rabbit was rescued; but I'm sorry that she was injured. I hope a nice family adopts her.
