Well, it's yesterday now because it's after midnight.
My taxi came for me at about 1:25pm today.
When I got to Wall Village Hall I went to the toilet and then made myself a cup of tea. I showed Tina, the tutor, a watercolour painting I did and told her that that was why I didn't like taping my paper to the board. It's becauee there is a great big rip at the bottom where the paper tore when I pulled the masking tape off! I told her my neighbour over the road tried to fix it with cellotape! Tina said pritt stick should help, and I'm going to try and get it framed and mounted to hide the rip.
We were doing "The Old Banger" today. An old rusty car that's seen better days! Tina said we could trace it or do it freehand. Everybody was tracing it! There were quite a few pictures of cars on the board, some in a worse state of repair than others! I chose 3 pictures again because I hadn't decided which one I wanted to do! In the end I chose a car that is facing you head on, because I thought that would be easier!
Sue handed out our watercolour paper and gave us our paint. We traced our car than retraced it on the back so our actual picture is the other way round than the reference picture, but mine wasn't so bad, because as it is facing you it's more symmetrical. Even so there were bits that you knew were backwards, like the shadow and some details here and there. When the image was transferred to the paper we went over the lines again. Tina said tracing was supposed to save time, and we all laughed!
Bailey was there again today, and he was being a very good boy. He could smell when Sue had shortbread though, and he went up to her looking for a treat!
After we'd drawn out our car we wet the paper and put a wash of yellow ochre on. We let that dry then we did the shadows with a mix of ultramarine blue and crimson to make a violet colour. Then when that was dry we painted in the car. I used vermilion for my car. I darkened areas of the car with the shadow colour. Then I added bumpers, an area around the windscreen and parts of the headlights with a watered down version of the ultramarine blue.
When we'd finished painting our cars we let it dry, then we went round with a fineliner pen. I did the grille on the front of my car with the fineliner pen.
Then we went in with some pastel pencils, adding little bits of detail here and there and blending them with my finger. Areas in the headlights were done with pastel pencils, especially the brown areas. I also lightened some areas with a white pastel pencil.
When we'd finished we put our work on the floor for everyone to see. Next week we're having a week off because they're using the hall as a polling station. But the week after that we're doing apples and pears in acrylic.
When I went out my taxi was waiting for me, and I went home. I must remember next week to cancel Thursday's taxi because of the polling. Then I need to book two more taxi's for 1 Aug to make up for the one that was cancelled.
When I got home I showed Mum my car painting. Later I went into the dining room and did some more painting. I'm doing an acrylic lady bird, a landscape scene with a bridge and a bowl of apples and grapes. I will show them to you later. Next week, when I have the day off from art class, I hope to do some watercolour painting.
What have you lot been getting up to today?
I hope you are all well.
Have a great night.

I think Syd had a car with the steering wheel on the other side once, when I was little.

I'm glad I brought back memories for you.
And it's actually traced, so the steering wheel on the reference picture was on the other side!

@sharonelton That looks just like an old jalopy I had years ago. Today I chopped down a tree and bought some really juicy, flavoursome strawberries from a fruit and veg shop rather than buy the tasteless strawberries from the supermarket. Also made my own satay sauce which was very well received.

Really? Well I'm glad I reminded you of that.
You chopped down a tree?
I hope you didn't exert yourself too much.
You lucky thing. The fruit and veg shop that we used to like going to shut down and still to this day we don't know why! They used to sell some really nice strawberries there. They also had other good stuff like HALF a cucumber that you can't seem to get anywhere else!
It's nice that you can make your own satay sauce. All our sauces are bought from the supermarket! My Mum just can't be bothered to make her own! She says, why would you do that when you can buy it from the supermarket?

@sharonelton Nobody can get through a whole cucumber before it starts to go soggy - that’s supermarkets for you.

@xFiacre Yeah, I know, exactly! The fruit and veg shop, called Riley's was very good for stuff like that.
I wish the supermarket would wake up!

Thank you very much. I know what you mean about frustrating! I found out I can't even trace properly! I was always shifting it and getting stuff in the wrong place! But it turned out OK in the end.
