The Bonne Terre Municipal Police Department as well as the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are warning citizens in the city to avoid attempting to capture or approach the alligator who is believed to be three feet long although some eyewitnesses mention that the length of the alligator is right inches long. that has been seen in Bonne Terre Lake on Tuesday June 25. The authorities believe that the alligator was either was a pet of someone who either was abandoned or the pet crawled away from home. State law allows persons to own alligators as their pets as long as the alligator is not longer than eight feet long in which the alligator is to be registered by the state. So far no one has been hurt by the alligator. Link is upi.com/6871719417548 via @upi

It's good they're warning people to stay away, though I think people with common sense would do so anyway.

You are right that people who do have common sense will stay away from an alligator.

Just because things can be owned as pets doesn’t mean things should be owned as pets.

Three feet is plenty long enough. I hope they find the alligator and that everyone is safe.

I don't think I'd want to keep an alligator as a pet.

Neither would I since it is illegal in Louisiana for anyone to own an alligator.

People can have alligators as pets that are 8 feet long? That's so dangerous!!! If someone abandoned that gator they should be prosecuted. Have a good day and weekend.

Hey, the alligator is doing what comes naturally swimming in a lake. Hopefully, someone can catch him and give him a better home.

Some people are very irresponsible; maybe this owner was taking their alligator for a walk, and it loosened itself from its lead. They should have then warned the authorities, about this, themselves too.
