A blast from the past

Last week we were away at an event and while we were there, there happened to be several other things going on at the same place. One was a vintage car run. This one was obviously one of the earliest. It is literally a horseless carriage; apart from the lack of shafts it looks as though someone has just led the horses away.
As we were driving back down the motorway with cars all around us at 70 mph (or even faster) I thought about how much has changed over the past couple of generations. When my parents were young there were hardly any cars. My mother’s father had a charabanc which was the only motor vehicle in the village and still had solid wooden ‘tyres’ on one set of wheels, but rubber on the other. My Dad remembered driving home with a friend on a chassis, building the bodywork later.
I wonder what the next hundred years will bring?

It sounds like you had a cool time at the event, especially with the old car run! Thinking about how things have changed from horses to today's fast cars on highways is really interesting. It makes you wonder what the next hundred years will be like such as how things like cars, technology, and life in general will keep changing. It's exciting to think about!

@Fleura It's fascinating to imagine how much quieter life must have been during those early days of cars, compared to today's bustling highways. The pace of change in technology and daily life is incredible to think about.

There are those who would like us to be without our cars, or switch to electric. I do not know if it will indeed happen.

We can't possibly imagine what transportation will be like in 100 years...if humans manage to survive that long!!! Have a good day.

I am glad I no longer drive but that car would be just up my alley, I could easily drive in that and I souldn't be nervous at all,

Wow! Yes, that is old!
Things have definitely changed a lot over the years. I don't know how things will change in the future.
