The Felafels Were Awful

My sister gave me a box of felafel mix she didn't want as she had changed her diet after she bought it. I had never had felafels before, but hey, it was free food. I wasn't going to turn it down. I made them last night and I will say this right here and now. The felafels were awful. No, seriously. Just awful. I did not like the taste, the texture, nothing. Just awful. There is still some batter left in the box and it won't go to waste. I can bread some pork steaks or chicken or something with it and I am sure it will be all right. I had a feeling I wasn't going to like them, and I turned out to be right. Just...awful.

Do you like chick peas in general? I've made falafel from scratch before and enjoyed it. But I like chick peas. How did you eat them? Did you do the traditional pita, cucumber, tomato, yogurt sauce? I imagine they would be dry and bland without the accoutrements.

Not really. But that's not really what I disliked about them. They were just dry and not good. We dipped them in spicy brown mustard. Definitely not a do over.

@porwest Yeah you definitely didn't have them the right way. I mean I can't speak to a boxed falafel mix but they are traditionally served with cucumber, tomatoes, and a yogurt or tzatziki sauce. They definitely would be dry on their own.

Yeah, I had no great expectations to begin with. So, I guess it worked out. Like I said, I will still use the mix for something else. Not eating felafels again, that's for sure. lol
