A few more birds are appearing

The photo is of a honey-eater that Vince saw in our garden yesterday. Being a new area, there are not a lot of trees and gardens yet and birds have been few and far between. We are starting to see a few more now. The little black-and-white willy wagtails adjust happily to suburban life but it can take a while before other varieties move in. Hopefully we’ll have lots more soon. Today, I have to put the chocolate icing on my slice and make some mini-quiche. We’re staying with my brother-in-law tonight and going to a concert. His daughter will be part of the concert band and could be playing just about anything, as long as it’s one of the ones you blow through. She is very musical.

What a lovely sight with the honey-eater! It's great to hear you're starting to see more birds. Enjoy making your chocolate icing and mini-quiches. Have a wonderful time at the concert and with your brother-in-law. How exciting that his daughter will be performing!

My mom used to do that before putting chocolate icing on her cakes, sometimes she also added bourbon which I liked a lot.

That is a lovely little bird. There is nothing like the sound of birds chirping and singing away. Something that we take for granted, until it is not there. When we first moved here 7 years ago, it was new construction, and they were still building, and as a result there wasn't really any large trees nor birds. But the trees were planted and have grown and we have birds, sometimes too many when you see our black SUV.

Signs of spring coming your way. I love it when the birds show up and sing their songs in the morning. Enjoy the birds as they move back into your neighborhood. That's a beautiful bird. I haven't seen it before. I hope you enjoyed the concert last night. Your slice sounds good. Is it the same as the one you made for the film?

I get lots of "regular" birds in my yard, but also the occasional cardinal and bluejay. Yesterday I saw a monarch flutter by and a darling chipmunk. This morning I saw a nasty grey squirrel climb up one of my sunflowers and bent it with its weight.

We were at a friend's just a few doors up. She has quite a lot of garden and we saw quite a few birds there. There are definitely more around.

From what I could find out, your wagtails are slightly different to ours which isn't really surprising. Ours are always black and white. The cake has all been eaten. Sorry.

I have a bird bath and we can put feeders out if we want to. It's usually water that our garden birds are searching for more than food but feeders are a good idea.
