Sometimes you just cannot ignore the obvious selections when it comes to a theme. With this month’s subject of songs referencing rock and roll in the title, I give you the most obvious selection. No way to leave this one out…mainly, because it’s a great tune! And here it is, to no one’s surprise.
Rock and Roll Music - Chuck Berry
See you tomorrow.
Seriously, what can be said. This is a song, a theme song, and an explanation all in one. If you need to describe rock and roll in two and a half minutes, this song does it nicely for you.
I guess the only real “surprise” would be which version to use, as it’s been recorded by everyone and his brother (and that includes the Beatles and The Beach Boys). Of course I’ll go with Chuck’s original.
Gotta be!

I know. Funny how it’s so “simple,” but it’s lasted 65+ years!

Countless people have recorded it, and it seems to be a concert favorite as well.
