What do you think this might be?

You might be wondering what the photo depicts. It’s the back of a park bench which we saw in Dowerin, Western Australia. I’ve shown just the back so you can more easily see the various bits and pieces that have been used to create the bench. I’ll put a photo of the whole bench in one of the comments. The ‘legs’ of the bench are actually strong springs from a plough so the bench moves gently when you sit on it. Just for starters, here are some of the components you can see: wrench, spanners, bolt cutter, door handle, nuts, bolts, clamps, handsaw, hand-drill, footplate, cogs. Maybe you can add more. And don’t forget to look for the parrots and cockatoos incorporated into the design. I’m not sure of the significance of the yellow awareness ribbons, as it has several meanings. I think in this case it might be to do with suicide prevention. Suicide isn’t uncommon in country areas as farmers and others struggle. We saw a number of blue trees (trees painted blue) in our travels too.

I love old tools. One of my Yule Tales is centered around a man who makes fantastical creatures from old tools. He takes on a girl apprentice.

I like the old tools too. I can remember my Dad using a lot of them.

That is a very original bench Was the part where we touched our back smooth or did it pull threads from our clothes?

It seemed pretty smooth but I didn't take a lot of notice. Vince sat on it and didn't say it was rough.

That is a cool use of old things. It must get hot to sit on though! Or cold of course (but I don't think you heave really cold temperatures there?)

I can't imagine too many would sit on it for too long. Certainly in the summer it would be too hot to sit on. It might be under a tree. I can't remember.
