Need window treatments for the whole house

We need new window treatments for the whole house. I want light filtering with the option to control privacy (how much exposure there is to the room) so blinds/shades are the way to go. We have a balcony sliding door, stairs window, kitchen window, two living room windows, one bedroom window, and one master bedroom window to cover. There is also a window in the master bedroom above the main one that’s in the shape of a hand fan. I originally didn’t want to cover it but maybe we should as that room is on the third floor and it gets very hot there in the summer. Leaving the window uncovered may make the room even hotter. I went to Blinds to Go and after talking with a person there I settled on zebra shades for the hall window and bedroom windows, and vertical blinds for the other windows and the balcony sliding door. The estimated total, which will change once accurate measurements are done and everything is finalized, including whether or not to do the hand-fan-shaped-window, came to around $2100. And that’s with tax, measuring and installation, and their buy one get second one 50% off. I am not sure if this is a good price or if it’s expensive. It may be a good idea to go to a few other places to see what they offer and how much it can potentially cost. The downside is that the Blinds to Go sale ends September 8th. Doesn’t give me much time to shop around, especially since I don’t know where else to go.

The more places you check the more info on options you will have. One of them might be having an end of season sale or something too.

@celticeagle More options makes it harder to choose.

It is definitely better to have more options to choose from. I hope I can find a few places so I can compare prices before the Blinds to Go sale ends.

It sounds like you've done some thorough research already! Zebra shades and vertical blinds are solid choices for light filtering and privacy control. The estimated price of $2100 for all your windows, including tax, installation, and the sale discount, seems reasonable, especially with the additional options like the fan-shaped window.

We went to a second place close to our house and after this visit we might go in a different direction than I initially planned so price will vary for sure compared to the first place I went to. Will see what they say.

It sounds reasonable, but yes you would have to hurry to shop around.

There seems to be a place close to my house that does window treatments. Maybe I will stop by there tomorrow.

I guess it's always good to get a couple of quotes but this sounds a really good price to me.

Will get a second estimate tomorrow. But after talking to the second people we will probably change my initial thinking and do vertical blinds only for the sliding door. The rest either zebra or Roman shades. And for the kitchen probably faux-wood.

I would at least get one more quote. For custom blinds I would say the quote you have is to be expected. Good luck and have a great day.

Went to a place by our house. Will get a quote Thursday. Will probably do vertical blinds for the sliding door, horizontal faux-wood for the kitchen, and the rest will either be zebra blinds or Roman. Not sure about the hand fan window in terms of exactly what kind of shade or blind it will be. Since the second place is not the identical type of blind for each room that I initially picked when going to the first place the price will be different for sure. And zebra shades are more expensive.

Checking out a few more places could help you feel more confident about the price. Time is tight with the sale ending soon, but it might be worth a quick comparison to ensure you’re getting the best deal. Hope you find the perfect fit for your windows!

Definitely not much time to shop around. And if places will require someone to come to the house to see what I want and to give me an estimate then it will prolong things and I may miss out on the Binds to Go sale.
