May have a wasp nest inside our siding

We have things flying above our house door. Doesn’t seem like it’s bees but it’s one of those insects. I’m thinking maybe wasps but they are small it seems. At least most of them. They fly in and out of our siding that is above the door. First there were a few but now there are more of them. I have a feeling they may have build a nest there.
We went to get a spray for them but the wasp and hornet one had no straw. We need the straw to be able to spray into the siding.
The only spray with a straw was for yellow jackets so that’s what we got. Hubby sprayed it this evening when it started to get dark. I hope it works. Maybe what we have is actually yellow jackets.
I don’t want them flying there and potentially getting into the house. Every time we open the house door there is a chance one or more may fly in. We already had a few get inside somehow. Probably from us or the contractor opening the door. There was one today in between the window and the insect screen. Don’t know how it got there but shortly after it seemed to have vanished.
Bees, wasps, hornets, etc. freak me out. If they are near me I run away. If I see them outside the window I’m okay. If one happens to be in the house I’m not okay. I’m on edge and stay away from that room till hubby comes home and can deal with it.
And now I’m afraid to leave or enter the house because what if one of them lands on me and even stings me.

I had a nest of wasps outside my front door for quite awhile before management of my apartment took care of it. Then, they started to build a nest between my “patio” door and screen door. Management quickly dealt with that, but I have no idea how, when they opened the sliding door, none escaped into my apartment. I hate those things.

I wish I knew what we actually have. Maybe if they are wasps the Yellowjacket spray is not effective. I didn’t see any when I went outside and neither did our contractor. But then all of a sudden they appeared and many.

We had some sort of yellow jacket under the siding and they chewed their way into the house. We had to have an exterminator come out. Good luck and have a great day.

@LindaOHio saw a wasp today on the living room window and yesterday morning hubby killed 4 on the stairs window which is by house door. Not sure if they were wasps or bees or something else
Seeing it today freaked me out so I ran to hide upstairs in my bedroom. Wonder if it is still there. Wish I had the guts to try and kill it myself. Hubby held up at work so by the time he gets home it may not be there anymore.

Didn’t seem to work. But maybe it helped a little. Still noticed plenty of them flying around. Even saw a large wasp go into the siding under our neighbor’s balcony.

Me too. Not sure how effective the spray was. Hubby will try to spray again tonight.

@porwest I think we have to get someone to come and remove the siding (hopefully without damaging it) and see what is really going on behind it.

There are still many flying around outside there. And hubby killed one in the hallway last night and four this morning on the window next to the outside door.

@lovebuglena You have to get to the root of the nest or they won't go away. The sprays are only contact kills. You need something that can be brought to the queen.

You need to call an exterminator to find the nests and the path they take to get inside. It could be through your vents, a bathroom fan (built into the ceiling) etc. Can your husband access your attic?

Hubby called one his customers who is an exterminator or at least owns the business and the guy said to get insect dust. But then if you get that you need to buy a thing to put the dust into and then figure out how to get it where it needs to go. I told hubby that maybe we should just hire a professional. I don't want hubby dealing with that. It should be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Supposedly we have an attic but we do not have access to it.

You may not have access to it, but I bet the wasps do. Oh, and do you have a fireplace. They can also get in that way, as well as bathroom vents, etc.

@MarieCoyle No fireplace in this house. I really think we should hire a professional to come and take a look. Don't get why hubby doesn't want to do that.

I went downstairs today and there two wasps on the living room window. I freaked out and went upstairs. After hubby finally came out of the bathroom I told him about it and he went downstairs no problem and killed then and threw them away. No hesitation. Told me I need courage. Yeah I agree. But not that easy to not be afraid of them. I can’t even be in the same room as them, let alone be brave enough to try and kill them. I panic and am not calm inside.
Now I’m scared that they may appear again tomorrow and hubby will be at work so I will end up hiding in my bedroom again.

I don’t want any inside the house or anywhere near it. And definitely not inside the siding. Wonder how many we actually have and if they built a nest behind the siding and how big it is. Only way to know is to remove the siding. Not sure how you can do that without actually damaging the siding though.
