When A Relationship does not work, Good Idea is to Walk Away

Cases of domestic violence or partner hacking are a global threat to coexistence. Many people who have been in love end up harming one another when relationships turn sour. Here in Kenya the statistics are very terrifying. The latest incidence here happened on Sunday last week when an athlete was doused with petrol and set ablaze as she returned home from church by her estranged lover. The athlete suffered 80% burns and unfortunately died today, Thursday 5th sept. 2024. It is my wish that if a relationship fails to work, walking away is a good idea.

This is not a good thing. I hope he will be punished severely. May she rest in peace.

He is still in hospital. Sustained 30% body burn. Fire caught up with him while he was trying to burn his former girlfriend

@sharonelton Sure. And I am sure as soon as he is out of the hospital, he will face murder charges against him and is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Relationships that wind up with one partner harming or even killing another over a breakup is very troubling and leaves one asking why. It seems in these situations one partner is so dependent on the other that the demise of the relationship is too hard to endure. They are emotionally unstable to the point of if I can't have them no one can.

You are right my friend. But instead of harming your partner, why not just walk away?

@SIDIKIMPOLE I agree with you. When warning signs occur one must pay attention to them.

@dgobucks226 Thank you very much my friend. Many have perished for hoping that things would get better, unfortunately. Warning signs should be an alarm enough to make you run for your dear life.

Relationships are hard to let go. Years are invested in that, which means that many memories. Like decision to amputate in the case of cancer, or gangrene is tough, so is the decision to let go. There is also this ego, how could I as a grown up, have been so wrong, impossible, I am not wrong, this is temporary difference, and it will be resolved, or I will ensure this works, and so on and so forth. Ideally, children should be taught in schools why respecting one another is important, and how they have to control their anger.

I agree with you totally, if children are taught in schools on matters of respect, then such unfortunate events could reduce. But still, I believe spiritual leaders, parents and counsellors also have a role to play!

That's so sad. I read that her attacker has burns too. I hope he is severely punished when he recovers.

It is so sad. I wish he could have just walked away. The lady did not like him but he kept on pestering her!

I just read about this tragic incident, and it’s truly heartbreaking. It’s so important to prioritize safety and well-being in relationships. Walking away when things aren't working is sometimes the best choice to avoid such devastating outcomes.
