Why didn’t he say?

I have ‘won’ an item of furniture on Ebay and I need to go and collect it. I asked, earlier in the week, if I could go today and the seller said yes.
This morning I got some work done then emailed to ask if it was OK to come mid-afternoon, and the seller said yes, but not before 2 pm as he would be in a meeting. So of course I started doing some other things.
Those took a bit longer than they should so at about 2:10 pm I sent him a text to say I was finishing off some work and then I would set off. That’s when he said “I have to leave at 2:30 pm”.
Why didn’t he say that in the first place? He could easily have said “Please come between 2 and 2:30” or just said he would be busy until 2 but then had to leave half an hour later. When he said after 2 pm I took that to mean any time in the afternoon after 2 pm.
I’ve asked when would be a suitable time to come instead but no reply so far.

That's frustrating and I hope you can get there to pick up there furniture. He should have been specific about the time frame.

Did you finally land up there and got what you had gone there for?
That clock is a birdy clock. I have one but the birds do not chirp any more.
