Ah, here’s one for the books. One of the biggest acts of the late 70s…with what, by their standards at the time, was a big “flop.” And yet it’s my favorite song by these guys! No jive (talkin’)!
Here’s today’s song from the list of my 100 favorite songs from the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
Edge of the Universe - Bee Gees
I did a Bee Gees countdown a few years ago, at the request of @LindaOH . This stumped her. It stumped all The Bee Gees lovers. And it’s my favorite Bee Gees song.
I first heard this as the B-side of “Nights on Broadway” when I got the 45. Then, a year later, there was a live Bee Gees album, and this was released as a single from it. As I mentioned, compared to all the #1 songs they were having at the time, this “tanked” at #26. So not everything they touched turned to gold then (there was also that Sgt. Pepper movie that they, and everyone, would like to forget…
)
My music tastes aren’t weird, as I joke, they’re just unique to me. This proves it: my favorite Bee Gees song, that the rest of the world let slip by.
Edge of the Universe
Written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb
Recorded by The Bee Gees
From Here At Last…Bee Gees…Live, 1976
(Also from Main Course, 1975)
Peak chart position: #26
Today’s country song: “Coat of Many Colors”
It’s been my longest journey:

I'm still stumped; but I LOVE the Bee Gees. If they were still alive, I would choose their concert over Elton John's. Have a good day.
