Our nephew wins a prestigious trophy

Australia has a Governor General who is the Queen’s representative. He has no political affiliation. Each state has a Governor to take some of the workload of the shoulders of the Governor General. These are prestigious roles and deserve recognition and respect.
Our nephew won the Governor’s trophy at the Perth Royal Show (similar to a State Fair I think) for most successful exhibitor over all livestock classes. This is the third year he has won it so he is justly proud. The trophy is awarded in the centre of the ring with all the dignitaries gathered round.
Last year, he kept them all waiting a good half hour while he dealt with a Nigerian Dwarf doe that was having trouble kidding. He wouldn’t leave her until he was sure she was safe. Luckily, the Governor seemed impressed with his dedication and didn’t mind having to wait.

@BarBaraPrz I think mainly it looks neat and keeps their ordinary clothes clean.

Congratulations to him! Might they eventually rename the trophy in his honor if he keeps winning it?

@JudyEv — and politicians won’t relinquish their titles for a commoner.
I know what you mean. I only have three of my Putt Putt plaques hanging, the other 14 are in the cedar chest.

@FourWalls A friend took all the plaques off her husband's trophies and put them on a board which was a good way of reducing the space they took up.

@JudyEv I sure love goat cheese so wish I had just your ordinary run of the mill goat but the yard is most sparse grass and dirt and I have not idea how to milk one and make cheese

@RasmaSandra In which case it's probably best not to get one!

That is a great honour having to keep the dignitaries waiting for his arrival.

He only shows goats, although he might have had chickens as well this time. Some exhibitors have entries in a number of areas so it's a pretty serious competition. lol
