A scary moment for The Horse this morning.

I logged into my bank account this morning to move some funds around, including paying my credit card bill. When I got to my account it was zeroed out. Looking at recent activity, I saw some large sums had been deducted from my checking account. I tried to call my bank. After 15 minutes of bots and transfers, I was informed that the call center was down. I returned to my account, and then remembered that with withdrawn funds corresponded with the amounts I had previously transferred to an investment account. Still frustrated, I went on a cleaning frenzy, taking "stuff" out to the dumpster. I had to do something "within my control." After an hour or so, I went back to my computer and logged into my account. "We are sorry. But the current screen shows yesterday's values." So my bank must have a server down or something. But at least I do not have to deal with trying to track down tens of thousands of stolen dollars. I need a beer. It's Noon somewhere. Have you ever had something like this happen? Photo is from Monday evening's hike.

When I moved from Vancouver to Guelph and transferred my account, they lost my $85,000...

@TheHorse About a week later, and I made sure they paid me the interest it wasn't earning while in limbo.

That would have set me into a huge panic. I'm glad you figured out where the money went. We've sometimes had difficulty remembering what a substantial withdrawal was for.

Seeing my accounts zeroed out was odd. I did not see an apology or and explanation in my emails when I got home from Guitar Center.

@TheHorse It's not too often banks apologise even if they should.

@TheHorse - The bank was surely updating/upgrading their site. They prevent people to log in here when they are doing this. Better than scare people.

It would have happened to me but my son blocked my account in time. Now I am careful and my bank has increased its security.

I assume our monies are insured. But I don't want to spend hundreds more hours on hold trying to get things resolved.

I tried logging into my bank account last night to move some funds into my investment account, and both my bank and my investment fund (two different companies) were both down for maintenance. Why do they do that on a Friday? Don't they know that payday for most people and that's going to be the day when they need access to their accounts the most?

@TheHorse Major inconvenience to some I'm sure. It was a minor annoyance for me. Both sites are back up and running this morning, so I was able to move the funds that I wanted to move last night. Hopefully all's good on your end with your bank account.

As you are not that old, you survived to share the tale. But you are not that young as you tend to forget what you have done.

It came in papers .There were many accounts which showed zero balance due to the unavailability of data centers. I recollect a situation few yearsago , when i could not login at all for 6 hours to a bank account and could not do anything with the money in the account. This was because of a security breach and the bank was evaluating the things and hence the delay. I am pretty sure, you would have been living in axiety for sometime. It would have been the case with most and in case happened to me, then I would as well would have been terrified. Glad the ordeal is over!

That is scary! Yet a nice excuse for a cleaning frenzy. Glad no money was stolen. And no, it has never happened to me. You got to see a beautiful sky that evening. How was the hike?

Ever since technology got hold of the world, all sorts of bad things have happened to me. I have lost photos I have taken and stories I have written. It seems that lately life is absolutly disposable.
