I fully understand everyone's trying to make a buck, but we're two days out post-hurricane. I know there's a handful of members here who've been impacted by Milton. And, compared to some I walked away fairly unharmed. However, what I did not expect to see is someone from Metro net trying to sell me high speed internet. Furthermore I don't appericate someone trying to talk down to me like an unintelegent person who doesn't reconize a snow job. He wanted me to pay twenty-four dollors more a month for high speed fiber optic internet. Claiming that their company is the only true high speed fiber optic internet in existance. Oh, and if I paid five dollors more a month i could lock in the price for three years. And he was spouting numbers at me like 2gbs per second internet. Modorn devices haven't been built to run at that speed. I don't do a whole lot online. Mostly browising the internet, streaming t.v. and running my houses smart plugs and security system. My internet feels not really different then when I was using spectrum, only with a lot less problems. I've been seen ads for Metro net in my mailbox as well as warnings about road work in our area. So, I knew sales people would start going door to door. But, damn. I guess Daytona was spared if someone has the balls to do that. Yet.... Walmart can't beliver to me and neither can door dash. But a sales person for metronet can sell me i internet?

I suspect they've just recently started going door to door, but the timing couldn't be worse.

@RebeccasFarm I normally would not be bothered too much, but We're dealing with both Milton and Helene.

On the one hand, if people are going door to door, that means roads are clear, but on the other, it's sad that grocery stores aren't fullly opporational in terms of their full services. Addationally fast food restaurants can't deliver to my address. I warned George I can't make a grocery run, unless we do it in-person or wait.

I know. I told the guy that I was paying 40/month for the same offer. and he seemed surprised. I didn't tell him it was only a summer promotion or the price would go up. I went with wire three, initically not because of the price, but because their cables were underground and I literally saw them build their inferstructer. And I have internet where others do not, Most underground inferstucter is fine. Unless you're one of those who lost the power or your home. Or have a sinkhole. Then no one has anything.

@kaylachan I think we have a fiber cable connection or something like that, My friends take care of this and include the price in my rent. Usually after these storms we do not lose the Internet,

@RasmaSandra It's always a risk, it just depends on how the infestructor is built and if there's damage. Cable internet relies on the same polls that power lines are on. And if a power pole is down then a whole section of people won't have either, obviously.

Well, I don't think he knew he was coming off as condecending. Most sales people are trained to follow a script.

Kinetic/Windstream came to my door twice trying to sell their internet. I went with them for internet and phone; but I've been without our landline since the end of September. Great service. I left Spectrum because of the price; but I never really had any problem with our phone/internet/TV service. Have a good weekend.

@LindaOHio I am not against people coming to the door. That's how we got our security system, our solar pannals and hurricane safe windows. George and I know how to vet people and if one of is uneasy, we'll tell the sales person to leave. And, considering I already had wire3, I was going to tell him to leave, anyway. However, I think he needs to go back to school for customer service.

Door to door salespeople isn't a new thing. And, if things were better, I wouldn't have been so mad. But, we have people who are trying to get back home , we have people[le without power still, I hear generators going constently. They could've waited or better still ask if we needed help.

You keep expecting the world to be a better place than it is. When you expect that there a bunch of real crappy people in it, it won't surprise you as much.

There is always someone who tries to take advantage of others in some way during a time of distress. Very sad! I remember after hurricane Sandy hit NJ; some were prosecuted for setting up phony Hurricane Relief Funds receiving donations and stealing the monies from people wanting to provide support for the victims.

The world is a crazy place. I guess everyone has to make a living. But it seems rather bad timing if nothing else. That being said, I don't like salespeople coming to my door.
