I usually visited myLoters profile and select some of their recent discussions but if you notice there are some discussion in your recent list that I don't commented it is not because I hate it, but it is simply because I don't understand it, because english is not my first language.
Sometimes I really have no clue about the topic about your government or your rant to some events in your area that is why I don't really comment on it. I hope you understand.
So you also do that?

It's okay if you don't understand something, or skip a post. I only respond to discussions that hold an interest for me, or I feel I can respond to. Unless I am in an argumentive mood I'll avoid political posts. They can become heated and people can get ugly.

@luisadannointed Sometimes it can, but often it devides us. Especially this time of year. If you do elections in your country, then you know how ugly it can get.

@luisadannointed I have had a good exposure of the English language as most in my family were good at it and we had English in college too.

If ever you're unsure or need clarification on something, you only have to ask.
It's understandable, of course, that you might not want to comment on the politics or specific events of another country.

I understand that.
I respect other people's points of view, but politics really isn't high on my list of interests, and I rarely comment on those posts.
I hope that you do well learning English on the site, I think that it could be very helpful.

@luisadannointed And really, with so much other stuff out there, and time being limited, why bother with things that don't interest us?

Yes, english is not also my first language. There are terms that I cannot understand too. However, if I am interested on a discussion, I looked the words that I don't understand in the dictionary. Most of the discussions here are interesting but I responded those that I most interested then the less interesting. I just keep on browsing.

It is always fine to skip a discussion if you do not understand the context or if it is not in your interest. I spend limited time in mylot and focus on relaxing. I respond to discussions which are based on my interest or atleast I can understand the context. I do not respond to every discussion and is selective. I believe most of the mylotters are doing the same as well. Plus , i do not want the uqliaty of discussion to go down by typing something irrelevant or repeating what others want to mention. So, in short it has nothing to do with your vocabulary skills , if a discussion is not based on your interest or you do not feel the context, better to slip and respond to other ones. Enjoy your day!

Yes, I wish I could respond to every discussion but I can't.
I don't have an opinion about everything.
Very little can be done when you're clueless about the topic and learning would take too long.
However, when the issue is just that you don't understand a phrase or expression, something I'd recommend is to use AI to have it explained. I did it once or twice, I copypaste the phrase and ask "what do they mean by that?"
