A knotty problem

I washed our mattress protector this morning along with a couple of other things, including a coloured tea-towel. The protector has loops that slip over the end of the mattress. As you can see in the photo, the loops managed to get completely entangled with the tea-towel. This happens quite often with anything that has ties or loops. While I’m having a bit of a rant, how come garden hoses insist on getting caught up on anything possible – or even impossible? Enquiring minds want to know, as The Horse would say.

All that stuff that happens is to drive us crazy as we try to untangle everything.

I hate it and fear it when clothes get caught in the washing machine's agitator.

@JudyEv I'm curious to know that this kind of entanglement doesn't happen in front-loading machines? It sounds so from what you are saying.

@abhi_bangal No, this is a front-loader but they tangle just as badly as an agitator model.

@JudyEv Of course if you ever need to escape from the second floor...you would have a rope to get to the ground..

@JudyEv Remember shoelaces? I feel like they are a thing of the past. I remember getting a knot in a shoelace, and my Dad sitting me down to show me that it only takes a little while to patiently remove the knot before it becomes more than one and the shoelace was too short to tie up. Patience needs to be taught and exercised from a young age.

@Juliaacv That's so true about patience. Our sneakers have shoelaces but more and more I see shoes fastened with Velcro.

You pointed out that right. When there're ties and loops, such things are bound to happen. It happens with us too. But it's irritating when you are running late and this happens. You need to free them and only then can you put them on the clothes line.

@JudyEv Everyone of us experiences different problems when operating electrical devices. You have this, we have that... And the story goes on

What annoys me even more is when the hose either gets a kink in it so no water flows through or it catches on something and I have to retrace my steps to free it. It seems to go out of its way to catch on pots or drainpipes or anything else it can find.

Moral of the story. Either do not get anything that has loops or wash it alone (lol) And as for the water hose we have arrangements to ensure that does not happen.

That happens to me from time to time. Maybe there are little gremlins who sneak into the washing machine and knot up all the laundry! haha And another thing that drives me crazy: how do electrical cords always seem to get tangled up when you go to use them? Or a string of Christmas lights? Or even worse, how do my shoelaces always ended up in a knot?

When we go away taking photos, the electrical cords for chargers, cameras, etc always end up in knots.

Electrical cords are just as annoying. Ones that we don't use too often I sometimes put in ziploc bags. That fixes 'em!!

I take it as a challenge to untangle such, and it gives me a sense of achievement after a successful effort Regarding garden hoses getting caught up, it can be another of the oft-quoted laws like Murphy's law "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong".

The other things that always end up in a mess are computer/telephone cords. If they are in a box together, they must have parties and wind up around each other.
