Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority answered an emergency call from Buena Park resident Safiya Hashimi on Thursday October 24 that her pet Cockatiel named Tweedy flew away from her home when the bird was startled by a noise.
Tweedy landed on a high branch near the Buena Park Community Center when Safiya's younger brother attempted to climb the tree to recover the bird when he needed to be rescued as well.
Orange County firefighter Shane Allan used a ladder to rescue the teenager first and then rescue the bird next and return the bird to Safiya safely.

Pet have to be careful of situations like that. Animals are frightened and can get in a lot of trouble. I am glad to hear Tweedy is okay.

They were lucky that all turned out ok here, the bird could have escaped, and the boy could have been injured, if he had fallen from the tree.

That is very true since 30 feet off of the ground is a huge way to be injured in a fall.
