Two countdowns, one with country songs and one with the “Hot 100,” and on some days you just can’t get away from genre one or the other.
While I wait for my new refrigerator to be delivered (because I just didn’t spend enough on the car
) I’ll give you another song that makes the list of all-time favorite songs to make the Billboard country charts.
Sing Me Back Home - Merle Haggard
Hopefully most of you know Merle Haggard’s name. If you do, you may also know that Haggard was an ex-con. He was doing time in San Quentin when Johnny Cash did a show to entertain the inmates there in 1960. It turned his life around.
Like many country singers, Haggard wrote what he knew. This was based on the experience of seeing prisoners being taken to the Death Row holding area.
I’ve watched documentaries about serial murderers and cold-blooded killers, and I’ll tell you flat out that I don’t have sympathy for them. This does remind us, however, that they were human once upon a time.

Today’s rock song: “Seven Bridges Road”

Yeah, you don’t strike me as a Merle fan…not even “The Fightin’ Side of Me.”

@FourWalls Very true, where you need good people around you, if you have bad, you will most likely end up bad. Been in both myself. I was fortunate to see it from both sides.

Some people can overcome the pain in their lives, and others cannot. Those turn it either on themselves or others…or sometimes both.
