Probably to nobody’s big surprise this guy is showing up again. Hey, I can’t help myself! When I say I like his music, I mean it!
Meanwhile, today’s rock song is power pop. How about that for a combination? Here’s today’s song from the 100 favorite country songs list.
That’s When I See the Blues (In Your Pretty Brown Eyes) - Jim Reeves
Yeah, yeah. Oh, that voice. Love it. Etc. See ya tomorrow.
Well, it’s all true. A love that’s been going on for 64 years and counting, so don’t expect me to change things now. “He’ll Have to Go” was the #1 country song when I was born, so blame that for all of this.
I think my affection for this song is the fact that it was one of the few songs at the time that mentioned brown eyes (guess what color my eyes are!). Or, oh, that voice. Love it. Etc.
My two all-time favorite Jim Reeves songs — this and “Blue Side of Lonesome” — are both on this list.
That's When I See the Blues (In Your Pretty Brown Eyes)
Written by Carl Belew, Tommy Blake, and W.S. Stevenson
Recorded by Jim Reeves
From The Best of Jim Reeves Volume III, 1969
Peak chart position: #9
Today’s rock song: “Starry Eyes”

Uh-oh, dissing my man! That’ll cost you (like Bugs Bunny deducting money from Yosemite Sam every time he lost his temper) £100.

Yes, there are some titles that just scream “country music”. Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” is another one.
