It's Getting Festive

Happy Monday Everyone! it's partly sunny here this morning with temperatures above the freezing mark. Looks like a decent day ahead. This past Thursday was my son in laws birthday and it's usually either on Thanksgiving or a few days before or after the holiday. So, it kind of gets lost but we do have a birthday cake on Thanksgiving and sing the birthday song. This year Thanksgiving is a week later so my daughter invited us over for dinner to celebrate his birthday (yesterday). She made a roast beef, mashed potatoes and sides. It was a delicious dinner and I could tell he was happy that his birthday wasn't squashed into the usual Thanksgiving celebrating. The weekend was busy and my house is a mess. The Christmas tree is up but not decorated. All the containers with the decorations are in the dining room and little by little this week I'll be decorating. Getting the tree done first is my priority and then the other little things I put out come later. That's what my week ahead is looking like....making side dishes to bring for Thanksgiving on Thursday and getting the house decorated for Christmas. It's starting to feel like the holidays!!

@Marilynda1225 I love the holiday season, too. I have done decorating my Christmas tree this afternoon while listening to the Christmas songs. Mine as well.

You’re going to be so happy that you at least got the tree up. Now to find the time to decorate it and put the storage containers away and then you can enjoy Thanksgiving.

I'll be happy when the tree is all decorated and everything else done and put away. Meanwhile I have a few days to deal with the mess.

As we do not celebrate Thanksgiving, most people decorates for Christmas for St. Nicholas Day, that is the 6th of December. It's getting closer.

Me too. Seems the easiest way to finish the tree and then most of the containers can be put away

I have totally given up decorating for Christmas which used to be a thing we did for many many years. I just fill lthe hall with balloons for kids to play when they come for that party

It sounds like you’ve had a heartwarming and productive weekend! Celebrating your son-in-law’s birthday separately from Thanksgiving must have made it extra special for him—it’s great when birthdays get their own spotlight. A roast beef dinner sounds amazing, and it’s wonderful your family could come together for it.

It's certainly starting to sound like holidays. It's great your SIL was able to have his own special day this year.

That sounds like fun! I’m really glad to hear he got to celebrate his birthday separately from Thanksgiving too. I love seeing people decorate their homes for this time of year. It sets everything to foster a good mood.

Well, happy birthday to your sil, and yes, it does seem to be a nice day with the sun shining but it's only 5°C here and rain is still predicted today and tomorrow. When I was in Hamilton the past few days, I cut a nice pine branch for my 'tree' but haven't fully decorated it. And it looks like I have to straighten it up some.
