New Canaan Animal Control Officer Sean Godejohn answered an emergency call from a homeowner who reported a hawk who was stuck in the surrounding netting in a chicken coop on Thursday November 21. Officer Godejohn was able to free the hawk that was stuck on the netting by lifting the hawk by its legs and cut the netting so that the hawk could go free after the officer determined that the hawk was not injured. Officer Godejohn is suggesting that metal chicken wire is to be used to prevent hawks from getting stuck in nets. Link is upi.com/1911732309278 via @upi

It is a good idea to be sure what you put up won't harm other animals. I am so glad the hawk wasn't injured.

I am in agreement with you since it breaks my heart to see an animal beside a cockroach or fly get hurt.

As long as they do not cut themselves on the metal chicken wire too, as they might be determined to get in to make a meal of the chickens in there anyway. Perhaps, the old-fashioned scarecrow might be better.

That is a good idea to have a scarecrow as the guardian of the house.
