A last gathering before Christmas

We have a barbecue area opposite our house in the lifestyle village and yesterday we had a gathering there in the afternoon. People started arriving at around 2pm and some stayed on for a barbecue dinner but most went home before evening. We were lucky with the weather as it wasn’t stinking hot. There isn’t a lot of shade there if there are a lot of people. Most of the activities here are finishing up for the Christmas/New Year period. It will be nice to have a break.

I know it is totally foreign to many but we'd feel strange with snow and ice at Christmas.

Our Christmas won't be too stressful but nine of us are getting together for New Year. Even that will be mostly chilling out.

@RasmaSandra I think last year they organised something for New Year but we always celebrate New Year with the same group of friends and we always go away for it.

Get together is fun especially before the holidays. Another week , then it is almost 2 weeks of holidays. I would also get a short break and be back to things by second week fo Jan. Want to refresh myself and relax. It has been busy few months and need to save energy to tackle the next 12 months. Also , there are many challenges to conquer next year and it would not be easy. But then there is one big week of hard work left. The weather is warm here as well interestingly. Hope the barbecue dinner was great and the time in lifestyle village was fun. Enjoy the time!

You will really enjoy having a few weeks away from work. Most people here get 4 weeks holiday a year and many try to take it over the Christmas period. Because it's hot weather, they head to the beaches.

There is really no excuse to feel isolated or miserable here. People aren't pushy but if you make half an effort then you'll make friends easily enough.
