Things went pretty well. George felt like walking, and walked most of the time. He was having a hard time doing so unassisted so needed a little extra help with getting back to get his blood drawn. His talking is about where it's going to be, and he can check in and check out on his own okay enough. When it comes to questions like his name, date of birth and can recite his social easy enough. Which is what they usually ask for. He still struggles sometimes talking, but now I have to think underlying trauma. Because he thinks there's a connection between his peg tube and his legs working, but now I'm thinking its something else. Because of the incontance that really hasn't inproved. I'm going to work on getting all of that addressed. Because he can use his legs, but he says they don't work. I know physical therapy will help build a lot of that back up, I just have to try to adress what he says is wrong with those legs. But, he's at least making more of an effort lately to use them so that'll help.

Physical therapy should help him a good bit, especially if he tunes in and wants it!

And, there in lies the problem. In the past week I have gotten him to get up a bit more often, but at the same time... we had an argument over him going to the bathroom to change his undwerwear this morning. And he wondered why I turned off the t.v. at 12:30 when our appoitment was at 2.

@kaylachan Right, he's the one that has to put in the work and want it enough to put the work in!

@kareng I believe he will. I am just trying to figure out the coralation between the tube's placment and his legs. I know he's capable of doing all the things, but he keeps saying that the tube is why his legs don't work. And, there is where the afasia comes into play, because he's not sure how to express what's really wrong. And, I don't want to put him through unnecessary testing, but I have to help him. I don't want to write it off as him being lazy. Because, he's not.

He knows he could use it. But, I'm still trying to figure out what he might be saying. He seems to think where his tube is placed is why he's struggling with his legs so much. So I'm wracking my brain to think where he's coming up with this idea, since his doctors want to write it off as delusional thinking.

@kaylachan I know this is a long shot, but would the peg tube placement be in line with his seat belt? Maybe that could be it?

@MarieCoyle Yeah, it would. It kind of is. I can work around it a little bit, but the lap part of the belt don't have a lot of give in most cars.

I'm glad he is doing better and I think it's a great thing that he WANTED to walk. I hope things keep improving.

I know it will. I don't doubt he needs it, but he needs to want it enough.
