Saturday Night’s All Right for Musing

One of the benefits of being a weather geek is that I knew this storm was predicted last week. While grocery stores were out of bread and milk and there were long lines at the gas stations, I spent Saturday preparing in a different way: at the emergency room.
As I’ve said before, I’m a hypochondriac. I’ve been having pain in my left side for about a week and a half. It fluctuates in intensity. As we’re expecting this behemoth of a sn*wstorm, I decided that I should get it checked TODAY, so there wouldn’t be any need to call an ambulance with six inches of crud on the roads.
Everything went quickly and smoothly. The doctor told me I was full of $#!*.
(Seriously, he gave me a laxative…apparently those fiber bars don’t have enough fiber!) I was home less than three hours after I showed up. That’s very comforting to know that I won’t need an ambulance ride up a narrow, winding, steep road for that in the next few days!
While I was waiting I watched part of the procession for President Carter. I wept considerably. He was president when I joined the Navy, so he was my Commander in Chief. Of course, he was a Navy man himself. What a wonderful legacy of faith and actions based on that faith he left!
All there is to do now is wait for the evil white stuff, which they predict will be here by 8 AM. I’ve been watching live feeds out of Missouri, where they’re having a mess of an ice storm, and it’s not good. I’m thankful I’m home, with a pantry full of food and a freezer full of potatoes for infamous potato soup.
Y’all have a great evening, and I’m praying for everyone in the path of the sn*w in the Midwest as well as the severe weather in the Deep South.
The photo is the door of a chain called Slim Chickens. I thought that explanation of their hours (“open unless we’re closed”) was quite funny.

And so true! I’ve never eaten there, but I’d like to try it just because of their humor!

Why you watching live feeds out of Missouri, that must be boring. Wait were you waiting to see the Chiefs plane take off too? I knew it was a conspiracy. Everyone trying to stop the Chiefs.
Jimmy Carter is to worthy for this country , but sad we lost him and another stone away from the good people that used to run this place. People say he was not a great president. I have no idea because was just born to 4. but what everyone agrees on is he was a great man after and to me probably means great president too, but people do not know what he did.

He wasn’t a good president. He tried. But he was too honest to be president. That hurts so badly to say, because that’s quite an indictment of our country and our “system.”

@BarBaraPrz — a variation of hash browns, diced instead of shredded, with onions and peppers added. Makes a great soup.

Bags of O’Brien potatoes. That’s what I use in the soup.

Happy that is all that was wrong. Hubby takes a laxative every day now because of that

@FourWalls I hope not but it seems to be. I remember my dad especially needing it.

I'm glad you're OK. Northern Ohio will miss that bad storm. We already have 6 inches of s**w. That's enough. Love the picture. Stay safe and warm and have a good day.

I checked their menu, all fried, so I won’t be eating there. But love the slogan!

@LindaOHio — I “can,” but I don’t for my diet.

@FourWalls I can still eat fried foods! I take pills for my GERD and hiatal hernia. So far so good.

I am glad that it was nothing too serious and you decided to spend the day in the E.R. on your own accord. It could've been far more serious and you don't need to be taking such a risk.
I find it funny that Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 66 and Monday it's supposed to be 75. For Tuesday to be predicted to drop to 52. Yep. sounds like a typical Florida winter to me.

I always loved swimming in the ocean in December then freezing two weeks later.

I love fried potatoes.
I am glad you are okay. Stay healthy and take care of yourself, stay out of the cold weather.

I do, too! I don’t “fry” them that much because I’m happy with the 62 pounds I’ve lost in the last three years, but I do something that sort of resembles frying them.

We've been getting spitting rain off and on all day. My car has ice covering it and we have icicles hanging off the front porch. The Weather Channel insists it was 36F all day but the thermometer on our front porch showed 28F most of the day. (It has showed 32F for a little while but went back to 28F again.) We're waiting for the "winter mix" to show up next.
Hope you don't get as much crap as predicted. Good luck!

I hope you found your bathroom, then.
Some of the ice melted off this afternoon but the temp dropped and it started freezing rain and sleeting again.
