Egg White Oatmeal

This has been my go-to breakfast for the past few weeks.
It's very easy to make: once the water with the oats starts to simmer in the pot, I add the (carton) egg whites and stir. Whether I whisk them or not, they add so much volume for a very low amount of calories. And they're also rich in protein, which help me feel fuller and perhaps build muscle mass.
For flavor, I add fruit: either sliced banana or some canned fruit sauce, like the apple-strawberry mix in the picture.
I also add some sweetener because I like my oatmeal sweet. I might experiment with cocoa or other "warm" flavors soon.
I should also experiment more with the microwave oven because washing the pot after I made the oatmeal is not fun. It would be so much better if I could get it all done in the bowl, but it turned out too dry the first and last time I tried. Maybe the heat was too high or it cooked for too long or it just needed more water, I'm still a newbie when it comes to microwave cooking.
Have you ever considered adding egg whites to your oatmeal? Do you even have oatmeal?
I'm leaving egg white pancakes for another post.

I don't like cooked oatmeal but like eating rolled oats with almond milk and a small amount of sugar for breakfast. I don't add egg white to anything... When I was a bodybuilder, I'd drink and egg mixed with milk before I worked out but I won't even do that now. I get plenty of protein in the meats I eat.

@DaddyEvil Yeah, if you eat meat regularly you don't have to eat "custard", unless you like it. Did you add any sugar to the milk & egg mixture, I wonder?

I love sweet oatmeal. Never tried with egg though. Not sure I'll like that. Definitely a protein packed meal and it is so important to eat healthy. I like my oatmeal with milk sugar some vanilla essence and chopped nuts.

@DaddyEvil Brazil nuts are still OK but pine nuts are absolutely a n no for me. Brazil nuts are great for womens health so I consume them when in the mood. Cashew nuts are the best of the lot but they are just too fatty

I never tried eating oats with nuts even though that's shown on the box. I don't really like nuts in my foods but do eat nuts by themselves. (I like most nuts except for Brazil nuts. They taste like they're made of fat.
) Mostly, I eat pecans, hazelnuts, cashews or peanuts.

@coolimrose Yours is yummy too!
The egg whites curb my need for milk but I guess that could help not make my egg oatmeal bake and turn into a cake when I microwave it.

@wolfgirl569 What you don't like about oatmeal? The flavor or the texture?

@rakski Yeah, not suitable as staple food, so to speak.

@rakski I'm going to be the same, it gets boring after a while no matter how good it is. I still got instant oats to eat before they expire.

@JudyEv I'm getting cake instead of oatmeal, guess that's what eggs do. But I don't mind.

Smart idea the more protein you can add to things the better. I usually make mine in the microwave, but I could easily add eggwhite to it.

@snowy22315 I figured the egg white just makes the oatmeal turn into a cake, guess I'll have cake from now on. It's actually pretty good and even more satisfying than plain oatmeal.

My breakfast will always be a warm bread or fried rice with any toppings with eggs. I really love warm foods in breakfast. Light breakfast is a big no for me, it makes me feel weak and my stomach feels cold.

@luisadannointed When I was a kid I'd have milk straight out of the fridge with some cereal, but I think I was simply lazy because I love a warm breakfast too.

@RebeccasFarm Oh. Right, luckily there are many ways one can replace eggs. I didn't know about mung beans but flaxseed for instance.

Sounds interesting, I usually like to make my oatmeal in chicken bouillon and sometimes dice in smoked sausage,

@Fleura Yes, I'm getting pretty addicted to the microwave, experimenting with it. It hasn't exploded yet, so far so good.

@Namaco21 Oats are like flour, you can have them in so many ways. I don't know if egg whites are easy to digest, I know they can cause some bad gas if you exceed.
