Sometimes I´m glad that I´m old.

I was just reading a post about food and remembered that now people are afraid of eating or drinking so many things that I don´t know how they survive. Yet, in the other hand, they eat and drink so much junk food that even children are getting more obese each day.
Leticia, my former maid and friend, is almost 70 years old and yet she still has a wonderful body. She ate everything until around 8 years ago when doctor found that she had diabetes. But all her family including her grandchildren are overweighed.
When I was a child we ate a lot more. At lunch we had a salad, a soup and a main dish. Then came dessert. But it was never cake unless it was a birthday or a special holiday. Dessert meant fruit in season. I still remember how my mom counted the cherries so that we would not fight for the amount of them.
We never had snacks but we were supposed to eat everything that we had in our plates. Along the years, mothers changed the dumb sentences that children had to hear about thinking about the hungry children of other parts of the world.
Then, after school, we had to do our homework and then we could go out to play or ride in our bikes. Those were the wonderful days with no tablets. Still, at night, we had time to read.
Do you have those memories?

Exercise is a big part of keeping weight down and kids don't do that anymore.

Edibles like bagged chips didn't come out until I was older. Mom made cookies and cake but we didn't have so many goodies so often. We did get a ten cent allowance per week. We walked to a corner store and bought pennycandy. Mom didn't drive so us kids walked or rode bikes.

My mom never learned how to drive. And my father had his first car when I was 11. Before that, he took us to school when we were small until we learned to take the bus

We were outside doing things that kids today would never think to do. I rode my bike or one of the horses all over the countryside or ran through the fields. It was a lot different for us than it is for kids now.

I am very worried about the amount of obese people now. Even children have no muscles.

@marguicha I don't believe in body-shaming but surely having a little bit of pride in how you look wouldn't be a bad thing. And it's always the most obese that wear clothing the looks two sizes too small.
