I would much rather see Walmart as the largest private employer in the world rather than Amazon which I have had a love/hate relationship with for several years. Walmart has 2.1 million employees globally. That is more than some populations of major US cities. They operate 10,500 stores in 24 countries. They are also the largest company revenue-wise with $611 Billion in its fiscal year in 2023. This business is controlled by the Walton family.

I can see them having to close stores here in Canada, given the current situation with Trump's threats and the tarriff's that he is imposing on our trading. Everyone that I speak with is boycotting anything from or associated with the US, people are very hurt and trying to do their own little part to stand up for Canada. I am sure that you are aware of this, and yours would do the same if the situation were reversed. Such troublesome times we live in.

Yes, it not only gives Trump a bad name but the people who can't do much about it. There are rallies in every state. I doubt he even listened to them or cares.

@Juliaacv ..........I am stocking up as much as possible on the items we use a lot. I just hope this only goes on for 4 years and that he doesn't get a third term or some other authoritarian is voted in after this term.

Walmart is owned by a conglomerate in Europe. They have a Walton as a figurehead who has no power in their company. Walmart doesn't pay enough for one person to support themselves without getting Snap benefits (Food stamps). Their average pay is poverty level everywhere in the US.

It is sad that since they are making so much they couldn't pay workers more. Online it says that the Walton family still own a large part of it and the rest is owned by Vanguard Group.

@celticeagle They "own" stock in Walmart but the business itself is owned by the Vanguard Group. (That's just like saying @porwest "owns" the companies he buys stock in.) I worked for them for 14 years and had food stamps that entire time.

I try not to use big companies. Amazon buys out small businesses which I am apposed to.
