We're Having a Heat Wave-- A Tropical Heat Wave

Oh, my goodness. It was so hot in here earlier. We have this situation going on:
First the heat downstairs didn't work. It was frigid in here. With nights in the teens it was COLD in here. We all congregated upstairs. Finally maintenance came and found a problem with a breaker, fixed it and it started heating up downstairs. Nice for a change..until...
Now today the heat thermostat in the kitchen won't turn off and it is like a sauna in here. With that and the warmer temps outside(the high 40s)it is blister weather in here. So my grandson is checking the breakers to see if something can be done before we leave a message with maintenance.
We have removed the jackets we were wearing because it was so cold in here and are wearing summer wear. The rain outside is nice and we have all the windows upstairs open.
This is not going to help us in keeping our electric bill down. Grr! So much for trying to be frugal.
So, we are singing songs about the heat like this one from "Heat Wave" by Irving Berlin. Now all we need are some Pina Coladas and we'd be set.
Why do things always have to happen to us on the weekend?

I believe we finally have out heating/cooling all working correctly for a change. We still need insulation blown into the walls, though. That's supposed to happen this coming Spring.
I hope everything there gets fixed soon.

I hope so too. With the light in the dining room taking several years I am not real hopeful.

This has to do with the heater in the apartment. I hope they come out tomorrow.

The downstairs electrical is weird. It took years to get Housing to bring in a real electrician and get the light in the dining room and the back outside light working. Now the thermostat in the kitchen won't turn off. It is on 'off' but it is still warm in the kitchen. We are waiting for tomorrow to see if what my grandson worked and we will see then whether to call maintenance or not.
