Firefighters from the Dekalb County Fire Department (DCFD) answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen who witnessed a house on fire on Wednesday.
When the firefighters arrive on scene, they were able to rescue an elderly man who was inside of the burning home who was sitting in a wheelchair as well as his pets safely.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire that was in the laundry room. The firefighters were able to clear up the dirty air inside the home after the fire was put out.
Emergency Management Services (EMS) checked the condition of the disabled man who refused to be taken to a local hospital.
The cause of the fire was caused by a buildup of dryer vent which caused the lint getting on fire.

That is so scary. Being in a wheelchair and all. I bet he will be checking the drier lint from now on.

You are right that the man in the wheelchair will have to check the liner in the laundry from now on.

It just shows you the need to clear lint from such machines, and other like ones too, like cleaning filters in air-conditioner units as well. It was good that the man and his pets were rescued, safely.

You are right that the machines need to be cleaned from lint that gets in the machines.
